1972 gmc dana 44 front axle info

I did a search and did not find a definitive answer for my issue so i figured i were ould ask as as someone on here knows the answer. My driver side/long side on my 72 gmc 1/2 ton front axle dana 44 is broke and needs replaced. My cousin who lives a few hours away has a pile of chevy axles and will be coming thru my town on Sunday and will bring me what i need. I have not pulled my front end apart yet to get the spline and axle length so he can measure/count and bring me the right part. Does any one by chance have that info handy? Pic of my wheels/tires and cap for your pleasure.

All the Chevy 44 stuff is the same aside from the smaller early u-joint. 1972 should have the larger 2nd design. But any complete assy up to 77 will fit

Check the stamping on the long axle tube for BOM. '72 had a 1st and 2nd design. If you have the second design you can use the 'post-72 Dana 44 parts. If you post that number I can check my parts book for which design you have.

Make sure you replace your spindle bearings. They are often the culprit.
