High Hump or Low Hump
I have a 68 with a Low Hump and already installed a 700R4 trans and am going to be installing a Big Block. I am doing the engine swap as close to original as possible. Did all Big Block trucks come with a High Hump?

Re: High Hump or Low Hump
yes, I would say high hump on the BB engine.....It sits between the I-6 & sb position, & is also mounted a little higher in the frame. This is due to the BB mounts /stands. You can mount the BB on sb stands......but, you will never get the headers/manifolds to fit that app. :chevy: Longhorn

Re: High Hump or Low Hump
I think the majority of them had high humps, but I've got a 68 with a big block and a T400 with a small hump. When I first got the truck it was pretty close to rubbing on the top of the trans, but after new body mounts it clears just fine. I can get my hand around the top of it

Also, you could possibly add shims to lift higher. That would be better than cutting up the truck. |
Re: High Hump or Low Hump
I've seen factory shims, square in design. I think they used them to get the body lines to line up when needed.
