Who has a 67-72 truck for their only vehicle?

Who has a 67-72 truck for their only vehicle? Or nothing newer than an 87? Extra points for those who have a spouse who also does not have a late model vehicle.

I'll start. My 1969 CST/10 is my daily driver and my only car. My wife does have a 2010 SUV, so no extra points for me. But when I need to go somewhere I take the 69 truck.

I drive my 1969 GMC K15 daily. It’s fun and I enjoy it very much. I will admit it comes with some drawbacks that my wife’s 2014 Silverado doesn’t have. I have to endure talking to people everywhere I go. The gas station, the grocery store, post office even in my own yard. Everyone wants to see it, talk about it and invariably ask me if I want to sell it?
They are usually very understanding when I tell them it’s not for sale. Occasionally they will bring it back up to see if I was sure, yep I tell them I’m sure.
I’m kidding of course, I do love to talk about classic trucks and cars, it’s one of the reasons I do put up with the lack of creature comforts my wife’s truck has. Like suspension, and seat warmers in February, and that little key fob to lock the doors. It sure is handy. Oh and the remote start it’s real nice on a chilly morning.
I know you could add some of that stuff to our old trucks, but then you’ve lost some of the character of them. Catch 22

....I drive my 72 Blazer, 2wd conversion with 5.7 and 700r4...No extra points here either, wife drives 2014 DD with 5.7....She won't give the heated seats either..

Although I am driving my 4-Runner now, I decided back in November of last year to drive my '68 every day.My 4-Runner had a nasty rod knock and I didn't want to buy something else. In that next six months I repaired most of the annoying things that did not work. Now my truck is a pleasure to drive and it is reliable transportation.I work too far away to keep driving it every day but that six months was a blast!

MY DD is a 1972 Blazer, I just replaced motor, I custom rebuilt a 350 sbc / mild performance. Still running the SM465 / 4 sp. Its a lot of fun to drive and play with in the woods and beach.

My '69 Longhorn is my DD and work truck on the farm, running errands around town and picking up the kids from school. I'm the "outsider" for not having monthly car payments on a late model SUV - but, my truck is paid for and the only vehicle in the parking lot that doesn't depreciate with with every driven mile. It's simple, rugged and extremely reliable, and I enjoy every time I drive it.

I do, now. [Or again.]
I just sold my '92 Subaru Legacy 2.2 for $900 to a guy who wanted the engine for a transplant into a vintage VW Westphalia Transporter. He drags 'em outta the weeds, puts a running Subie boxer engine in it, and says they sell like hot cakes on the Coast. Anyway glad to dump the ricer. Packrats had chewed the wiring harness to shreds, check-engine-light constant on, the interior had not survived 2 German Shepherds, the brakes, CVs, alignment, and suspension, all needed overhaul to the estimated tune of $2200. And the drivers-side sunvisor broke off. In Arizona.

Now I'm back to my main rig, the '68 Orange C/10 Stepside. Also overhauling the brakes and front locking hubs on my '71 GMC Jimmy K/1500 4x4. Parts are in, just need time off work to conduct maintenance.

I may get another Subaru in the future. Looking at Foresters. It's a money thing right now. Don't have to pay for insurance, license or gas on a 3rd vehicle.

I drove my '72 daily for over a year before I had to pull it into the garage to make some much needed repairs. I've owned it since July '16.

Me. I ride bikes all summer and drive the ‘67 in the winter. Have for a few years now.

I really shouldn't play because it's not my only truck, but I drive my Longhorn every where I go every day.

I have a nice Duramax and a low mileage Silverado SS, but I have to keep battery tenders on them due to lack of use. I only drive these when I travel and I have been known to take out of state trips in my Longhorn. The picture was taken somewhere in Kansas.

My XYL has a new suv, but we still drive the Longhorn most times.

..lol, almost identical situation for me.

I have an (now older) '05 duramax that I use for general transportation and I too, have to keep it either charged or use it every week to keep the batteries up....at least in the spring and summer months.
I then use my '72 (blue/white) as my daily run around driver in those seasons.

When fall/winter comes....I take the '72 off the road and store it for the winter and then shift completely over to the duramax for the harsher seasons.

The great upside to doing this 6 months on and 6 months off with the '72 is that it creates a really great anticipation every year as spring approaches and I start to count down the days until I put it back on the road again.
So the novelty doesn't really disappear...even years later.

The other upside in this 'split' arrangement is actually reflected back onto the duramax. The fact that I don't use it much in the spring and summer unless I have a longer business trip on the road or maybe some topsoil to pick up or similar means that the mileage that gets put on it is not that high.
Its an '05 and I think the mileage is maybe....125K...which is pretty low for a diesel/duramax. On top of that I don't really use it for anything that is daily heavy work related in terms of hauling or pulling....so it has had an easy life, lol.

All good
Coley

Re: Who has a 67-72 truck for their only vehicle?

I drive an 85 Chevy 3/4 ton most daily to work and use a 67 Mustang for the sunnier days. My 72 Chevy Truck will take the place of the 85 when it gets done and the 85 will just be getting out in the snow. The next car in line for restoration is my fist car...67 Pontiac. I always wanted a classic for every day of the week until I realized how much maintenance is involved with 2 classic cars,,,7 would be way to many to keep up with.

My wife has a later model car, but I only drive that when she tells me I have to because she's not driving.

71 K10 is my only. I drive it daily, on trips, hauling dirt bikes, towing trailers and its great! Previously my daily was a 2wd 1970 truck for a couple years. I do have a bike but its a 46 and with 3 kids its hard to get real time on that these days.

My 72 is my only vehicle and I drive it about once a week. The rest of the time I ride my bicycle to the store etc. My wife has a BMW SUV which she drives to the train station for work. We use the BMW to run errands and long trips.

My 71 was my only vehicle for 20 some years. I drove it all the time to work. NC SC all over the south east. It has gone through some changes over the years.

Now it's a weekend truck.

67 327 3 speed long box daily driver.
Love it. No fn payments, little maintenance, 140 bucks a year insurance, and 160 month in gas .
And a tonne of fun.

Only vehicle in my name is a 1969 C/10 pickup and its been that way for the last two years. I lose points here as my daily drivers have always been my parents (and now my grandparents) vehicles while I've been getting her road worthy

I am working on it. I have a ZR2 that is a great little truck that I drive every day but it only will haul two peeps. I have 2 grand kids, so hopefully I will have a 67-68 short fleet 4x4 that will have the room for us.

Drive mine daily, only vehicle I own. Its very doable, except I have to out think the local parts suppliers. Tired of crappy chinese junk for parts. I most likely have 377,000 on my rig. Some of the original stuff went 40 years without problems.

Makes you think twice about the new fancy stuff out there.

My '72 K5 Blazer is my daily driver. Slide in pop-up camper and all. If I have to go somewhere where overhead clearance is an issue, like a parking garage, I take my '66 MGB roadster. No points for the wife. She drives a 2013 Acura TSX wagon.

Mine is getting close to being my daily driver. Still working on it enough to be comfortable with it's dependability. I currently drive it to work 1 or 2 days a week.

About time to get the heater working. Need new tires also.

How many miles do you have on your Blazer?

Re: Who has a 67-72 truck for their only vehicle?

I used to only run my '72-earlier trucks. And that means as a work truck. I still would only drive those if I lived where winter driving didn't mean cancer to the body due to salted, and now worse brine, roads. I run my '72 from the time the salt is washed away by April rain until right before the first snow. Days are numbered for this year and I'm looking at two more siding jobs to get done before. The '72 is my only way to haul my 24' pump jack poles and walkboards over 20'. My new vehicle is only 23 years old, a '95, so does not meet your criteria
