Re: 52 Project

Since I figured out how to post pictures I will try and get a few in progress pic posted. The truck is in pretty good shape not much rust on the cab and front end. The bed is pretty much a total loss. It was a farm truck and the guy was hauling fertalizer and other farm stuff so the rust took over years ago, but the nice thing is it stayed in a barn most of its life and since we have had it is has been in covered storage so that helped it along.

The shop is nice to work in. Dad always wanted a nice shop to work in so he built this building...we are still trying to finish everything though, like electrical and storage, but it is coming along. It is a 45x80 half round type building, nice and big and room to spread out. I also have my camaro there in pieces and he has a couple of tractors in there also.

Re: 52 Project

:agree: What are your plans for it?

pgf545 07-21-2006 07:20 AM

Re: 52 Project

What we have done so far is install a Heidt's front end, new rear leaf springs and a 9 inch ford rear end. I think he ordered a *****in Products firewall and under dash brake booster and I will be installing that soon. After that we plan to get some aluminum heads for the motor and possible a single belt drive setup, I am leaving options open for that to be done later after the truck is done. The engine that is in there was pull out of a truck that was running so we might us it as is for a while. The bed needs to be replaced so that is on the horizon. The truck is going to be a cruiser and not a show truck...we just want to have a little fun with it...it has been a while in the works. Thanks for the help from you guys with my questions and I am sure as this thing progress I will have more.

Rob, I have been following your 52 project. That is going to be really nice when you get it done. I wish I had the money for the 48 I love that truck....I hope this truck we are building will have about the same stance as your 48 when we are done.

Re: 52 Project

I haven't had much progress lately on the 52, I got side tracked with my 69 Burb. My front end of my 48 is heidts with 250 lb springs (I think) and stock spindles. It looked to high until I got it all put back together and drove it for a while. The rear is a chassis engineering kit for 48-54 truck.

Re: 52 Project

Do you need any body/cab/interior parts? I have some stuff left over. Also, I highly recommend Mar-K beds. They are very well built and galvanized to boot. If you have any questions let me know.

Re: 52 Project

I'm really to worried about it now, because we still have a lot of stuff to do. These pictures are deceiving because the fenders and bed are just sitting on there with only a couple of bolts and we don't have the cab mounted correctly. It is sitting to high because I wasn't sure how it all bolted together but since I have found a manual with pictures. We had it sitting on a 2x4 which is about 2" too high:rolleyes: anyway thanks.

Nice work on the mustang II front end.

Re: 52 Project

Thanks, It was pretty easy....just a Heidt's setup. I have a bunch of work to do, since a lot of parts have showed up over at the "Toy Shop"...lol. We got a firewall from *****in and a new bed from Mar K and quite a few other misc parts to mount the cab and bed. Once I get the firewall installed then I am going to fix my motor placement issue that I currently have. I haven't done much work on the truck lately...mostly trying to get the floors welded back in my Camaro...one of these days I will get them both done.

Re: 52 Project

Thanks Daniel. It is kinda stalled right now that is why there are no pictures. It is my dad's truck and he was in the hospital a couple weeks ago and has not really felt like doing anything. Plus I have been working on my camaro and it is hard to do both at one time. He is feeling much better now and I think this weekend I might work on his truck a little. I will try and post some pictures when I go down there. I have done a couple of things since these pictures were taken, like cutting the firewall out for the *****in firewall and took the motor out so that I could position it correctly. Hopefully it will cool off enough in a couple of weeks and I can spend some time on it. I won't do anything on it with dad not there or not feeling like doing anything so that he won't feel too left out...lol.

Bernie

P.S. where abouts on the Cali coast are you? I have a friend that lives in Paso Roblas (sp?) and my son is out in the NAVY at NAS Lemoore.

Daniel, I have a 69 SS that is a million pieces...lol. Nah..I have been making a little head way on it and I am hoping to have it at least drivable in a few months...and then the body work will begin. I have most of the mechanical stuff already just need to get the floors and trunk pan finished. I have one side done and the drivers side is cut out waiting for me to get down there and finish it. Then I can put the frame back in and do all the mechanical stuff.
