15" rims on a 78 3/4 ton??
Can anyone tell me if 15" wheels will fit on a 78 3/4 ton 8 bolt pattern???
I am looking to get some rims and wondering if i have to upgrade to 16" rims for this set up>>> it is a Dana 60 rear and a Dana 44 front... Any help is appreciated... thanks in advance.... |
It will depend on the off-set. They should fit the back with no problem, but if they are not off-set far enough they will rub the calipers in the front.
8lug 15" wheels are a bit odd anyway. |
a few years back a friend and i switched his 85 half ton to a 3/4 using 78 hubs for his dana 44. to fit his eaton 15 inch 8 luggers using the factory calipers we had to grind the calipers and we ended up grinding a little bit of the weld bead off the rim as well. none of it was to excessive and came out fine. ran the set-up for well over a year with no probs. i can't remember the backspacing or anything though.

I think you will also have to grind the caliper bracket guides at the top. I can try and fit one of my 15x10 8 lug wheels on my Chevy w/ 71 chassis and see what it looks like. I run 8 lug 15x10s on my 70 GMC because it is all drum. No problems w/ the rear dana 60.

I have '77 3/4 ton axles on my '71 Burb. I am using 8-lug 15X10 wheels with a 4.25" backspacing. I had to grind on the front calipers quite a bit. I am running rear disks and only had to clean up the casting flash on one of the rear calipers.
Here is a pic of the front..... |
