Aftermarket Blazer Doors
 

Does anyone know if the aftermarket blazer doors are just cut pickup doors (like the factory ones were) or if they have a little piece welded in to keep the door from seperating up near the window?

I believe that they were developed specifically as Blazer doors. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that GMCPaul spearheaded the development. I don't know if all the vendors (like LMC) are selling the same product or if they are just selling cut down blazer doors.

Not to steal this thread, but like Super-kev said-- what are you guys doing to help your doors from seperating up near the window? I bought some PERFECT rustfree truck doors and cut them down, but they are already seperating in that spot. My hubby wants to weld a threaded stud to the inner side by the vent window and put a screw in to that stud from the interior side. Hope it works and doesn't screw anything up! :eek:

I wouldnt be surprised if they are just cut down truck doors, thats the way the factory did it even.

Diane, what's that the Hub wants to do? I have the same issue.......both the top of the spot welded vertical seam, where the door skin folds over the door frame is loose, and the area where the vent window frame goes into the door cavity is loose.

I was just gonna get my welder friend to tack a few more spot welds onto the folded seam, and then run a bead around where the frame and the door contact....

There are a couple of threads here on vent window screws, but my '69 has none of those.......but if they are the ticket, couldnt one just drill a hole straight thru the upper door panel and into vent frame?

Diane- just checked out your new pic......"Cruising June '04".....that grill set and new bumper just look awsome!!!!!!............you don't see that many restored old style grill/bumper setups on blazers............I think,like seemingly most, I preferred the '71-72 at first, but after looking at these things closely for a year or so........I changed my stance toward preferring the 69-70 look.......but in any case with all the work you have done, that grill really sets it off! Enjoy!

Once apon a time, there was a thread that explained how to fix the separation problem. I think it was before there was a separate blazer section.

thanks Bouncy.......I owe u a response on the transfer case........I don't know the year..........the PO wrote it and the model # down, but it is in that stack of stuff you get when you buy a used car............the headers are from someplace in California, that specializes in hot rod headers, making them tight to the block, so they fit inside frame rails.........not an issue with a Blazer, but then again they are nicely made and courtesy of the po.........
