Body/tub Info....

Body/tub Info.... Here soon I'll need to get a tub but 1st the frames getting refreshed have a total front clip,my question is how much can I expect to spend for a tub in descent shape i.e. normal rust with good winshield frame.this will help me narrow down my search and any help locating a good tub also would be helpful.
does any one have pics of things to watch out for and or key hidden rot spots thanks....Lewis

I think VTBlazer has a rust free tub for sale, but he's in Vermont. The places to watch for would be windshield frame, rocker boxes, rocker panels, floor, kick panel, etc. With the exception of the window frame, everything else, including rocker boxes, are now made as replacement panels.

As far as finding a tub, there aren't a lot of them running around. I think there are even a couple of guys on this board who have made one from a pickup box and the front portion of a pickup cab.

the tub is the key to blazer survival. Key areas ==windhield frame, firewall, floor, inner and outer rockers, rear floor especially back on the end, and the front lower edge of the rear quarters. You are much better off spending a little more money and traveling if necessary to get an original rust free tub then a patched one. Patched right they are fine but most are done by guys who know a little and try a lot but are not expert on how to do this. Outer rockers are the least of the problem. Inners/floor and and rear quarters are very common. Windshield surround frame is almost the kiss of death!

LUVS2XLR8 has one for cheap. For the price it would be worth the repairs.
