What T-Case is this ?

 Sorry my info is a little skimpy but here goes. I was at the local junkyard when we stumbled across a Blazer. I think it was an early 80's we took the front axle shafts for my spares for my friend. This truck had full time hubs. I noticed the T-case which I assumed would be a 208 looked like it was a 205. I looked at the shifter which had a pattern I've never seen before: from dash, LO LOCK, LO, N, HI, HI LOCK. Is this a 205 with 2 Wheel LO? It was mated to what looked to me like a turbo 350 auto tranny. But then I don't know much about auto trannies. Also, Would this T-Case fit my '70 GMC with 4 speed?

That's the Shift pattern for a NP203. Front axle should have drive slugs instead of lockouts unless it was converted to part time. 79 was the last year GM ran that case. If that truck had that case it was a swap in or the truck is older then you thought.

T-case

sounds like a 203 to me too. I just picked one up a week ago . I don't like the idea of a 203 (chain drive) but I'm going to keep it & make a doubler out of it !

I thought '79 had a D44 front end. This truck definately had a 10 bolt. Very possibly things could have been swapped around on this truck. Is there a number on the T-case that would verify it's type? I'm thinking maybe it is a 205 (looks just like mine) but has a different shifter stick.

its possible that the stick was changed, but im guessing its a 203. they looked sort of similar to a 205 from the rear. if it is a 205, it should have a small cover in the middle of the back with 3 bolts holding it on, no more than a silver dollar sized. no np205's came from the factory with a 2 Lo, but can be modified that way. also, the late 70's were a mixmatch of dana 44's and 10 bolts, i guess it depended on what the parts department had leftover.

EDIT: here is a pic of a NP205:

could be a 203 shifter knob on a 205 or 8

when i got my 205 it didnt have the knob so i put the one off the 203 onto it..i think they are universal. you cant really tell by the know you gotta get under there. they have a tag up by the front output its blue and silver unless it fell off already
