Cahnging 6 lug to a five lug

Ok guys I have no idea how to do this, not what is the best way. Does anyone have any insight into this matter?

4x4 or 2wd? 1/2 ton or 3/4? Front disks or drums? The front is easy. Change to 5 lug disks from a 71 or 72. 73-? can also be used with some modifications and appropriate ball joints. The rear is easy too if you know which axles are interchangable. What year is your truck? Can anyone else help out on the rear?

get the complete front suspensien assembly from a 73+ truck (up tell about 80 when they went to metric) the 73-87 trucks have rubber control arm bushings which is better than the stock 67-72 ones... will need to drill two more holes in your frame for the crossmember to work but nothing bad.... and for the rearend get the complete rear end out of a 71-72 C10

From your photo on another post, you have good six lug wheels. If you want to keep them you can do as ImpalaSS said but order 6-lug rotors and keep your rear end the way it is. Or you can get spindles off a 71/72 and change your ball joints and tie rod ends. By the way, which Athens do you live in? (GA, TN, TX, Etc.)

If your going to change the rear to a 5 lug patter, i'd change housings. I hear people say that some axles are interchangalbe perfectly, but i've found that all the 5 lug axles are longer than 6 lug axles. The results is your drum doesn't line up with the shoes right plus, the outter axle bearing won't ride on the machined part of the axle.

I have everything you need to make it 5 lug power disc. The stuff is used off a project truck. I'd take 200.00 for everthing shipped. You will need new pads, hoses and turn the rotors. But the rest should be fine. booster, mastercyl, spindles, rotors calipers
