Housepaint under the hood...
:new:
The former owner of my '97 must have ran over a can of white housepaint. It's all over under the hood. You can imagine how bad it looks right now. Does anybody have any thoughts on how to remove it? It's hard and crusty, but refuses to flake off. I'd like to get it off before the show season, if at all possible. Thanks in advance. |
the PO of my truck painted my truck with a brush and a can of barn and shed paint. its not quite show quality.

your prob gonna have to chisel it off and repaint, if you want it right back to original looking

Some of the paint is coming off on it's own (letting go due to rust underneath). However, the paint that is on the balancer and the pullys is starting to really annoy me. Should I try paint thinner? Only in small doses, it shouldn't remove the factory paint, should it?

Paint thinner won't remove cured paint. If it's not very thick, a strong TSP solution might get it off, otherwise you'll need to resort to one of the usual paint removal methods -- chemical, heat, or abrasion.

Crap. Here, I was hoping for a quick-fix, easy cleanup. It just looks really nasty. Small bits of it are coming off though. Thanks guys. |
