Stripped door bolt hole, now what ???

One of the bolts must have had a burr on or something, but when I removed the hinge bolts from the driver door, one of the nut things and the bolt stripped out taking most of the threads out of the door nut on the top inside one, the single one of the three, of course. Are those nuts replaceable or how would you fix ??? Thanks.

I think there may be some threads left in the back of the nut, If I put a bolt though from the back and maybe loctite it and use that as a stud , will that hit anything assuming bolt is not to long of course, Ya think that might work ?

It is a little bit of work, but I retapped the door nut to 7/16-20. For the bolt, I turned down the shank to 3/8 diameter x 3/8 long under the head, (to give it clearance for adjustment). I then ground the hex on a belt sander to fit a 9/16 socket. The hinge slot had to be opened up slightly to clear the 7/16 threads.

It looks good and works well.

I am not sure that would allow the door to close... would have to be pretty short (about the length of a bolt head, protruding out).

My thoughts anyway. When mine did this, I tapped it out to the next size.

When the inner door plate drop down into cabs door post hollow....thats where the fun begins. How you fix that without cutting the cabs forward door post open?

Great suggestion! I just stripped one of my upper nuts and one other was stripped to begin with. Best laid plans rebuilding hinges. After putting the door back on and realizing the mess I am in.....I started looking at skin removal...plug welding nuts and the like. To heck you say.....put a nut and washer on a longer bolt----DONE.
