where is rear blower resistor pack??

I've got an '89 suburban w/ rear AC.

High works but not low, so I need to find the resistor pack for it. Do you know where it's located??

If I bypass the switch, low still doesn't work, so I'm assuming it's the resistor pack. Any other ideas??

Thanks.

gues nobody knows?

I am looking for exactly the same thing in my 86 Suburban.

where can we find this resistor?

Re: where is rear blower resistor pack??

The blower motor resistor for the rear heater is located on the backside of the heater housing in the rear of the burb on the floor. At least that's where it's at in my '90 non a.c. burb

thanks for the reply. I dont have a heater in the back. Just a A/C unit hanging from the ceiling that is connected to the A/C. Is the resistor pack the same?

what do you mean by the heater housing? the unit hanging from the roof? is it in there?

Re: where is rear blower resistor pack??

Ok, If'n I'm readin' this LMC illustration right, it looks like there are 2 HEATER BLOWER MOTOR RESISTORS mounted in the A.C. housing under the hood. One on top and one on the side facing the engine. Items 27 & 28. I can verify this at work later today (GM DEALERSHIP) and get back with you tonight. 5 a.m. here right now.

If you had rear Auxilary heat, the heater housing would be mounted on the floor right behind the right wheel well. Item 17 is the rear HEATER BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR

he, you are right. indeed there are two. Wonder what the use for the two of them is?
hope to hear from you. thanks!

Re: where is rear blower resistor pack??

Ok Item # 28 is the resistor for the REAR A.C. UNIT.
GM PART # 03929051 A.C.DELCO #15-80828
ITEM # 27 IS FOR THE FRONT HEATER/A.C. UNIT
GM PART # 00336403 A.C.DELCO # 336403
OR WITH OUT A.C. THE RESISTOR THE GM PART NUMBER FOR THE FRONT HEATER RESISTOR IS 00500890 A.C.DELCO 15-80829

ALL ARE STILL AVAILIBLE FROM YOUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP.

ble'burban, thanks!
Motornut: can you point the resistor out in the pictures. I have no Idea where to look at?

1 Attachment(s)
thats one i can see
it appears the other is around the corner(arrow)
but it does have to be before the wires to the back and in the heater box....
Sorry ain't got no more pretty pictures, with better angles
the gold burb is gettin moved today(towed from bodyshop)1/2 hour from me
if i get out to it i'll look for the spot

wow, reviving old thread...but finally got around to disconnecting this thing and indeed...its the blower resistorpack for the rear and after cleaning up the contacts it even works fine in LOW mode.

some pics and info:
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Z...torpack_01.JPG

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-7...torpack_03.JPG

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-g...torpack_05.JPG

I measured these resitances:
- between 2 and 3: 4.5 Ohm
- between 2 and 1: 0.7 Ohm
- Between 3 and 1: 3.8 Ohm

In my case only 2 and three are connected (used) and there is no lead going to nr1 pin. nr2 and 3 are connected to a orange and yellow wire.

Inside the car behind the dash there are three wires connected:
thick brown
thick orange
thin yellow

when I connect brown and orange the fan is on FULL mode...and the standard speaker wire I used for testing warmed up to hot in seconds. the LOW mode is between brown and yellow for some reason. Dont understand this, because there is no brown connected to the resistorpack.

can anybody shine a light on this?

for now I have made a permanent connection on LOW...but Id love to hook it up right again...anybody got schematics on the colors?

I can't remember the burb but my jimmys have the brown wired used all the time on low
i cut the brown at the switch,my low is off now
78 is 3 speed 79 is 4 speed

three speed and four speed for the rear fan of the cooler? Mine had a switch with a LOW and HIGH mode....and a OFF mode like this one

Re: where is rear blower resistor pack??

one more picture for future help for somebody else:

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-e...512/Values.jpg

now 2-3 is connected resulting in 4.5 Ohm resistance and LOWWWW...speed of fan.

I am considering connection 3.5 Ohms by switching to 1-2 connection, but that will put the load on the small part of the resistor...will that be fine?
