Re: have you used truckandcarshop.com??

Yep.
Called looking for a blazer tank conversion kit.
At first, the lady I spoke to didn't know of a "kit", but said they sold the tank, the straps, etc....each.
I told her it was a metal tank, straps, sending unit, bolts, seals, etc....all as one kit. She asked me to hold.
When she returned, she told me that she had asked and sure enough, they do offer a 'kit', which is much cheaper than all the parts added up. So, for $211, I had a blazer tank conversion for my truck...SHIPPED TO MY DOOR.

I had a good experience with them.

They have good prices and OK quality. Beware of their sheet metal it’s the thin stuff. I bought my whole interior from them a few years back at a show and got real good prices, but what I’ve notice over the past few years is the quality of parts has gone down. Just my 2c

Re: have you used truckandcarshop.com??

With the exception of the major body parts (fenders, doors, bedsides, tailgate, hood, etc) I have bought nearly ALL of the parts to rebuild the 68 from them. And darn near everything on this truck will be new, inside and out, down to the trim screws! I recently faxed a two page order to them (46 items!), received everything in a timely fashion, with no damage, and only had one item on backorder. It arrived three days later.

My experience with them has been about 99% flawless. That's why I keep buying from them. The worst thing I have had happen is I received two right side marker lenses for a 66 GMC when I ordered a right and a left. They immediately sent me a left, and told me to just keep the other right side one. And they have about the best price on everything I have bought so far. I have had nothing but great customer service with them. One of the biggest complaints I have heard about them is their shipping. It usually takes about 1 to 1.5 weeks for the order to arrive, but since I am in no emergency or hurry, that doesn't bother me at all.

Re: have you used truckandcarshop.com??

When I last visited the US I went to their shop and I had a list for over 100 different items ($3 376,50)
, they had everything but 2 small items in stock.
I did a price comparison of about 8 companies before my US trip and the Truck and Car Shop came out as the one with the best prices and the one with most complete assortment.
I can't speak for the quality on the parts as my truck still is in the project status, I will soon be starting to put all the new stuff on my truck.

That's probably one of the biggest reasons I buy from them. I don't have to order from three or four different places, just one.

When I set out to rebuild the 68, I laid all the parts out on an Excel spreadsheet in the order that I would need them to reassemble (patch panels first, interior stuff last...). Then I broke everything down into $500 chuncks. Then when I had put aside $500, I ordered all the parts in the first chunk starting at the top of the list, and erasing each chunk as it was ordered. There were a LOT of chuncks!!!!

But there is only one and a half chunks left now :metal:

They aren't far from me so I go over there and pay no shipping.

I was one of those that has had problems with there customer service, but the last time I was there, the guy was really helpful.

I have always been happy with the parts I got there.

I just placed my 4th order with them, (around $1000 total) . Never had a problem. If you order over $250.00, shipping is free.

I really wanted to go with one of the board vendors (they were all included in my price comparsion) but prices and availability of the parts I needed made me go with the Truck and Car Shop.
As I was in the US for just a couple of weeks I had to find a place where I could get all the parts I needed.

Re: have you used truckandcarshop.com??

Come to think of it, my last order, the big order, had parts for specific to the 67-68 versions as well as some 71-72 related parts. I have a 71-72 frame under my 68. Erin called me to be sure I hadn't accidentially used the wrong part numbers for some brake lines and other stuff that were for a 71-72, since they have me on file as owning a 68.

Thats pretty good customer service too me. At last they were paying attention to what I had ordered -vs- what I own.

I ordered some stuff from them too, but it was too large for the free shipping. Thats the only thing I didn't like. I still feel like I got raped on the shipping they did charge.

I usually buy from them when they are at the Pamona Swap meet, they give a good discount there and I have not had any problems with them. I am concerned about their sheet metal though, I bought a Cowl hood and a front bed panel, but I haven't put them on yet. What type of problems have anybody had with their sheet metal?

The patch panels I got from them are Tri-Plus, and thinking back, I also got the bed front panel from them. The patch panels all fit as they should.

They are Counterpart, one in the same.Counterpart is the manufacturing and Truck Shop/Car Shop is the marketing.I think Dynacorn might be better for sheetmetal.I buy from them at swaps. They will make deals. They`ll also buy/trade rare used parts.I took a tach/vac dash to Charlotte and sold it to them.I didn`t want any parts,he knew it was authentic and paid me my price. It helped pay for the parts I went there for from board member Dan Kratz(nice guy, btw).

Well, all parts came in yesterday :metal: (of course my wife didn’t tell me till we were going to sleep :floss: then got upset cause I got up out of bed to go check out the new parts in the garage:fry: ) And I have to say the quality of the parts were better them I expected, with the exception of the chains they seem to be a bit thinner then the originals. But all in all I am very satisfied it my dealing with them. I will be ordering more parts from them soon. I forgot to add, I think they have one of the lowest shipping charges out there when it comes to ordering parts for our trucks. Now to put these parts on the truck. I just hope there still there when I get home:confused: ( my wife and mother are having a grage sale today;)  ).

Re: have you used truckandcarshop.com??

I have had great experience with The Truck and Car Shop. I build up my parts list and when it hits that free shipping point, I place an order. I've done probably four orders with them recently. So far, the quality has been good on everything that I have ordered (no sheetmetal or patch panels) and the shipping hasn't been too bad either.

I would rather do business with board members as well, but cash is king. I do the Excel spreadsheet as well on all the parts I buy, comparing all the vendors that I am aware of. Truck and Car Shop consistently comes in as the lowest price. Maybe one or two items here and there are a buck or two cheaper elsewhere, but it isn't worth placing a separate order with another vendor due to the shipping and the PITA.

Re: have you used truckandcarshop.com??

I've probably spenk 1K with them in the past two months. I've place two small orders and paid shipping (shipping sucks:() but I bought the majority of stuff at the charlotte auto fair. I also took a good look at their "counterparts" body panels. I bought a tailgate for my stepper. It was 2 pounds lighter than my original, BUT still heavy, sturdy, and the fit was excellent. I took a good look at their other body panels when I was there. the rear step fenders looked to be well made and a heavy gage, but I couldn't afford the $375 price tag. I was not impressed with their doors at all. The patch panels seemed ok, but others make better ones. The fenders appeared to be almost tri-plus quality. A lot of the stuf I bought isn't on the truck yet but will be within a couple months.
