Wheel and Tire Combo

How big of a Rim and Tire combo can I do on a 2wd 1967 Chevy truck longbed? I would like to use 20's if possible but don't want to use rubber bands as the tires either. 55 or 60 series woud be great. I jus put a 450 hp ls2 into it o they need to be fat in the rear. Any help would be appreciated...

Re: Wheel and Tire Combo

I am running 20x8.5 on 255-45-20 front and 20x10 on 295/45-20 rear. My BS front is 5in and 5.5in in the rear. The truck is lowered 4.5in in front and I have absolutely no rub issues, even from full turn to full turn.

Hope this helps.

These are 18.5 Mickeys, Stock rally wheels with negitive-offset rings welded into the back. You will have to trim the bed floor & extended the inner wheel tubs but the frame is not cut and no tire rubbing.

Sorry, SMBROUSS70  I have had the most difficult time putting pics on this site for some reason. And I'm quite computer savvy. I think it must have something to do with my computer. And it won't allow me to just copy any pics directly. Not sure what's wrong. Seems like the only pic of my truck you guys will see is the one on the Avatar...LOL

When you start a thread or even reply to one scroll down past the submit button and click on the "Manage Attachments" button and use the popup menu to browse to your pics on your hard drive and upload them...just as I did with the screeny.

I figured it out. I had pop-ups blocked. Maybe thsi is becasue I shouldn't be doing this kind of stuff on my work computer....HMMMMM.

Now let's try this again...some before and after pics to show the diff between only 2in front drop springs and 2in front drop springs plus 2.5in drop spindles. Just reference for those interested.

Thanks!

Is that your truck on the Avatar? If so, I'd really like to see more pics.

I'm trying to do the same thing. My truck is lowered 2.5" in the front and 4" in the rear. I'm running 265-60-15 on the front and 295-50-15 in the rear and want to go 18" and 20".

It is my truck, although a photoshopped version of it. It has a stepside bed now, instead of the fleetside. And trust me it doesn't look too good right now. Hopefully I'll be able to get it painted sometime this winter, then I'll be posting pics everywhere.

It's cool. Show current pics anyway. That's what this site is all about. And everyone has to start somewhere. Plus, it's a good idea for all of us to show our projects as they are. You never know when someone may see your truck and they let you know that they have the very part that they see that you need, or something like that. Maybe it's a long shot, but who knows????

Here it is! I pretty much have everything except the time to finish fixing the body and paint it.

Sorry to have hijacked the thread from it's original intentions.

Shagn67, Wink_Tim just put some 18's & 20's on his Short bed. In the back he used a taller tire than most use, a 295/50/20. It should be more than enough tire to handle daily driving abuse. You can see his pics in this thread...http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=211190

Re: Wheel and Tire Combo

Now that's what I'm talkin' about!!! Man, that thang has a righteous stance!! :metal: Your body looks straight...and ready for the paint booth. What are your plans for wheels/tires?

smbrouss70 10-19-2006 01:16 PM

Re: Wheel and Tire Combo

I think I'm going to go with some 18's and try to get it a little lower. The body is fairly straight, but there's a few areas that need some attention before the paint booth.

Re: Wheel and Tire Combo

novajess1972, would you be able to post some more pics of your truck? I love the style, but would like to see some pics of the rear wheel/tire combo, and just an overall shot of the truck. For myself, it's hard to notice the "height" of the tire from the wheel, due to the truck being painted black, and tires of course being black... Anyways, I'm in the beginning stages of ending up with a s/b truck much like this, different color and wheels, but along the same line, and would love to see the rear tire and wheel setup. Thanks in advance! Sweet truck by the way, and good luck this winter smbrouss70!

Well, you are definitely off to a good start and the truck certainly has the potential for greatness. Just don't get discouraged. That goes for everyone. If I can help any of you in any way, just gimme a shout!

72BLCKBUTY...it's a bit difficult to get more pics as it only allows 5 at one time. Then I have to look at the old thread to see which pics I already posted to make sure I don't post the same ones...LOL. If you will send me your email address (you can send a Private Message if you do not wish to share it with all forum members) and I will glady send you the Kodak Gallery that I have loaded all my truck pics onto.

Thanks for the compliments.

Re: Wheel and Tire Combo

novajess1972, I will pm you sometime hopefully in the near future. We don't have internet at the house anymore...my free AOL ran out...I know I'm cheap! Anyways, I would send you my work email, but they won't allow any pics come through for security reasons, so I will have to pm you later on sometime. I really want to see what the wheel/tire combination looks like. I'm having a difficult time planning my project out due to the wheel and tire combo, because I want it to sit a certain way. Again, love the truck! If you would like to see what I'm working on, I have my homepage in my signature. Thanks for the assistance!

Nate
