drive shaft chnge?
I want to do a 4in lift and a friend told me I will need a new, longer, driveshaft. Then I priced a lift kit this weekend and was told that the transfer case can be dropped with brackets so that the driveshaft isn't needed. Can someone tell me the best route to take? Will dropping the transfer case cause clearance issues or linkage issues?

Re: drive shaft chnge?
You should not need any shaft modification with a 4 inch lift.

Re: drive shaft chnge?
When you go 6" of bigger, You'll need a long shaft. 4" kit, you're alrighty. I know this because Ive lifted a friends '69 4" and had no problems with stock shaft.

Re: drive shaft chnge?
My 69 is lifted 6 inches and it needs a new drivshaft that is longer. My 79 has a 4 inch lift and had no modification to the driveshafts or T case. Here is a pic of the 69 w/ a 6 inch lift for reference, its not pretty but it works.

Replace the ujoints though, no need to get a longer drive shaft

Re: drive shaft chnge?
My 69 K20 with the Rockwell t/c did require driveshaft mods to work when I did the initial 4" lift. I initially had the front driveshaft lengthened then found it needed a CV.
