What seats out of newer vehicles can I use?

1. From what make and year vehicle have you used?

2. Which seats were they for(front, 2nd row, 3rd row)?

3. How much modification to fit?

4. Pics?

If I do I'll let you know. They need to be redone with new upholstery at least and maybe new foam also.

I had a post with some pictures a while back on installing seats from a '91. The front buckets need to be raised up on stands or they are to low. The second seat is really easy. I'm not sure how to find old posts. I have some pictures I can repost. Dave

Re: What seats out of newer vehicles can I use?

I put 1999 Tahoe Seats in my Burb. IN the back, I need to put spacers to adjust for the floor. But they fit just fine, and work great.

I have seen Van Conversion seats in Burbs, Tahoe Seats, Silverado Seats.

There is a thread here that will show pics. If I can get off my lazy hind end, I will post some of mine.

good luck.

jeff

im using 99 tahoe captains chairs in front and a 3500 crew cab rear bench seat. all that needs to be done is drill new holes and reinforce the flor pan where you drill.

I am using the front seats from a 2004 C-3500 extended cab with the console and all. I wish I had better pictures, but you can look at them anyway. I also am putting the matching 3rd row seat from a 2006 Suburban . The front seats needed to be re-drilled and as noted, need to be reinforced in the mounting points for safety. The rear is going to be little more tricky, but I am going to build mounting boxes that are dropped. that way the are like the factory Suburban set up, and I use the factory striker mounts. Again, these will have to be reinforced to be done right.

Are you hooking the power seat functions up as well?

The drivers seat is the only one that is powered on my set. That is actually an advantage in my case, since the passengers side is not powered, it slides forward so people can get in the back easier. That may not be a consideration in a Burb, but something to consider. Also note that I have the seat sitting all the way back. That is because the seats position is farther forward then the stock seats. This causes limited leg room since the seat can not slide the full length of the slide due to the ledge. I am a regular size guy and the seating position is perfect for me or a shorter person. These seats are so comfortable that my wife was glad that I spent the extra money after she sat in the rig.:)

I LOVE your setup. :metal: I am hoping to put the exact same seats in my Blazer as soon as I find a nice set of grey ones. Did you have any trouble with width? Some have mentioned that it would be a tight squeeze with the console and everything. More pics would be awesome! Thanks

The width is perfect if you ask me. I did take some measurements on a friends truck before I bought these. I have also seen a C-10 at a car show last summer that had the same set in it. I will try to get more pictures out later, we are going to be getting rain for the next week. I have the top off now and all that is on it is a tarp. I am going to be pulling these seats out since this Blazer is going to be put up for sale soon. The seats are staying with me and going into another Blazer if I can pull this whole deal together. ;)
