LMC Radio Speakers

Anyone have any experience with LMC's Dual Voice Coil speaker that fits in the original speaker hole? If so, how does it sound? Worth the bucks?
I really want to get away from putting speakers in the door panels, ect. I just want a decent sound from the old juke box.

Thanks

I actually got the chance to hear a set of their speakers a few days ago and I have to say that for the price, I'm rather impressed.

IIRC, they are made by Pioneer. They will sound just as good as a factory speaker found in the GM trucks, although size and positioning are somewhat limited in your application.

If you have a choice, I believe that they make a set of 2 3.5" speakers with a bracket for the center of the dash, just above the radio. That will sound better than a singal large speaker in the same location.

Thank you for the response. I think I will get the 2 speaker set.

Depends how much of an audiophile you are. Stock GM speakers need little power to be loud, but the frequency response is far from flat and at high volumes these speakers will make your ears bleed. They seem to have an emphasis on hi mids. For average listening volume and cruising, they are perfectly fine though.

Aftermarket speakers need more power to run, but the frequency response is very good and you will hear the sound just as it's meant to be heard. They sound very good though, even if you crank them up. You don't have to spend a lot of money to get good aftermarket speakers either. The step up from the cheapest sold will sound pretty good and they wont break the bank.

As stated before though, the dual 3.5 speakers made to fit in the original opening will sound much better than a single dual voice coil speaker.

Given road noise and truck noise, I don't place a whole lot of value on the finer points of audiology in my truck. Just a decent sound works for me.

I keep the good sounds at home and in the garage/shop.

Thanks for the input!
