Thanks for the pics. I am screwed. The problem is the small tab with the two small bolds as seen in pic (2) of your second post. That tab swivels as you raise or lower the cowl vent. This tab was missing on my current cab so I took it off my old cab not knowing that this piece needed to pivot I welded the two tabs together.

Obviously when I go to raise the cowl it binds. I guess I have (2) options.
1.) Cut the welds loose and drill out and place a small nut and bolt so that it can pivot again.
2.) weld the cowl shut.

Thanks for the photos and I will look for the window channel tomorrow.

yup i got the old vent. it's solid rust except for your tabs. they look new... how do you want them ship the whole rusty part or drill out the spot welds and send the tabs

I cut the drain ring out and welded my cowl up....good luck getting yalls to seal right...

Your a life saver.
To save on shipping I really just need the tabs from the body. My cowl vent tabs are ok.

So yes, please drill out the spot welds and just send me tabs for the body. I will PM you with my shipping address. I will look for your window channels tonight as well. Let me know what I owe you or maybe we can work something out trading the channels for your tabs.

I have a smooth fire wall as well. I just think that the cowl vent adds character. I shaved the side flapper and and passanger sides louvers.

I will have to some up with a steathy looking drain tub that goes behind the firewall.

by the way the real trick for the vent to seal is to move to a dry climate...

No joke about the warm climate :lol: It would also help my build as I shut down for the winters because my garage is not heated. The next house will have an out building. My wife affectionately referees to an out building as an outhouse. She is not totally wrong.

Take your time on the part; I have other more pressing huddles.
