Check it out, I did this over the weekend. Now I do not have to wait for my friends to come over and help. This only take me 1/2 hour to do by my self.

How do you all do it?

I already put hooks into my ceiling for something similar with lifting beds, but i want to know where you found those locking tackle rope blocks please. I do mine with rachet sraps and it takes forever. i work mostly alone also. thanx , crossy

That's a good idea. I had the same problem with mine and ended up getting a soft top so I would not have to wait for someone to come over to help me remove it. My hard top has been sitting in a field for like 5 years now.

reminds me of a nice Blazer locally that runs around without its top... has a sticker across the front top of the windshield says "Go topless"

Re: It only takes one to get my Blazer top off

I use to do that using ratchet straps and eye bolts in the garage ceiling on my 72 Blazer. Worked great, sit in the front seat push the front up and attach hooks to the tabs that bolt it to windshield frame. Jump out lift back, and hook to the ears that mount to top. It hung about 2in from bed rail. The trick was pulling into garage. That's when I used to drink. Real precision driving skills were needed.... Great Job!!!

Travis, that is sweet and perfect but I'm worried about the replies of those that haven't popped the top off their K5 yet. ??? Bust it off and go for a ride, it's what makes a K5 sweet.

I haven't been around, but not because my project has stalled. Well, it has stalled sorta - I'm not sure yet if I'm going to rebuild the small block or do a 454. <shrug?>

I'll know soon.

;)

Plus two in each rear corner, behind the trim panel. I eventually threw them away. When I was a young buck and was taking the top off constantly, I evetually ended up only putting four back in at the upper corners and rear. I was only riding around campus. I eventually quit putting any bolts in for quick showers, the top will ride on the rear studs only at around-town speeds.
