door speakers

Hello, I have a 02 Silverado and need to replace the front door speakers due to the one on the driver side have a lot of static and sound torn. My questions are does any one know what size they are and what brand or model number would be best. I like to listen to rock. But when the kids are in it they like the songs with bass.

Thanks
Ralph

Re: door speakers

Go to the dealership and get a replacement. Unless you're planning on redoing the entire thing, just stick with factory.

I believe the front speakers are 6 1/2" and the rear speakers are 4 X 6". You can also buy adapters so you dont have to cut wires or metal to get the speakers to fit.

Brand wise, there are lots, its more of a preference thing. Rockford Fosgate, JL, Infinity, JBL, Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood, MTX, Panasonic, MB Quart, etc.....

Personally, I prefer Rockford Fosgate and JL Audio.

Re: door speakers

I would suggest a nice "component speaker". But they aren't too cheap. With a component speaker, you'll get 2 tweeters, 1 speaker, and a crossover for each door for good highs/mids and a little extra bass.

Those are a good choice! They are made of good quality parts and sound nice. You should have years of enjoyment out of them.

2 tweeters? What components are you buying?

Each kickpanel in my '69 has a mid-range speaker, 2 tweeters, and a 12dB crossover. These are the component speakers I have:

P152S
5.25" Twin Drive Full-Range Speaker

Thanks to its 'twin drive' design with two tweeters and one midrange, you'll have more mounting options than you can shake a stick at with the P152S. Along with awesome flexibility, you'll get the clarity and PUNCH you expect from a Rockford Fosgate speaker.

Component systems, like these, are a little bit more money than coaxial speakers, but they are worth it. I do reccommend an external amplifier to get most out of them though because they can handle a little more power than coaxial speakers.
