Lowering Question
If I lower the truck by just replacing the springs, do I also decrease the load capacity?
Also, is the ride rougher? Got a little too much rake right now. Would like to just lower the rear to match the front. Thanks |
im going with lowering blocks on the rear

No matter what you do, your going to have some affect on ride quality. The more lowering you do with the springs the harsher your ride will be. If you use blocks, you'll notice a difference, but not as bad. If you just use springs, you will loose some of your towing capabilities. If you use a quality spring, like eichbach, then you shouldn't loose too much. If your gonna be hauling heavy loads, then go with a set of air bags.

the blocks shouldnt hurt the ride quality, but any drop will have some affect on load capacity. I made a set of blocks for my 4x4 to level the rear(lift blocks in my case). You can use 3/8 wall square tubing,& drill em & cap the ends with flat stap steel. Then pick up a new set of U bolts & you are good to go! You will have to measure to check this, but my guess is the back is approx 2 1/2" taller than the front. Good luck.....crazy AL:bowtie:

I have a set of 2.5" lowering blocks if you are interested. They came out of my truck as I replaced them with new lowered springs. I'm thinking $10 plus shipping if you want them. They are solid steel.

Once again I admit my ignorance.
How do blocks lower the truck, and can you still use the stock springs? Educate me. 1971Stepside - $10 for a lowered rear end sounds good to me. Noticed, however, that you replaced the blocks with springs. Does that mean springs are a better deal? Thanks, guys. Just want to get it's butt even with it's front end. Wish I could do that on myself for $10. :) Paul |

Lowering
I bought a Bell-Tech lowering kit off a guy up here in Seattle who had his truck stolen..
Lowered it two inches all the way around and rides real nice. The kit included shocks and springs.... Easy to install, but still not low enough for me... :p |
