2000 sierre + 100 shot ???? dissapointed
 

made a different thread but had no bites so i figure i'd put it here.

so i put a 100 shot on my 5.3 finally but its slightly disappointing. its a nx dry kit. it just seems like the power isnt getting to the wheels or something. i try to keep a constant 900 bottle pressure. but it dosent seem to matter no matter what its still feels weak WTF!!!!!. what would help this ?? shift kit ?? different torque converter ?? help me get the power to the ground !! any one know how much juice these motors will take ?



i've been running n2o on hondas for a while and even with a 50-60 shot its enuff for the wheels to stay spinning into third (62mph ish). and really put you back in your seat. but they were all 5 speeds. ?.?.?

have you run it at the track? if so how much did you pick up? You may need a better convertor but I would say at a minimum you need a good shift kit. My buddy's 03 silverado shifted like $hit until we put a kit in it. You may want to contact someone like nelson performance they can put a tune up in you computer that will help the tranny and make motor like the spray! don't forget the truck weighs twice as much as a honda. The 5.3's have tons of potential!

If you're spraying below 4000RPM you're not all the way up in the motor's power band, and already well past the flash point of the converter. Remember, the 325hp engine gets that power up at 5000RPM +. So you won't feel as hard a hit (since the converter will keep the engine from flashing up) but more of a steady push. Unless you're adding fuel you won't get the full value; remember, the point of nitrous is to add O2, allowing you to add more fuel. The shift kit will help tremendously, but a chip that adds fuel and adjusts trans pressure and shift points would probably help more.
FWD's spin a lot easier than a RWD, assuming the suspension is already loaded, which it should be if you're turning 4K before spraying.

BTW my 99 Xcab weighs 5400# with 1/4 tank fuel. Compare that to my 72 1 ton which went 4500# with a 402, or your 3200# honda, remembering that F=MA or A=M/F. It takes a lot more force to get the same acceleration out of a big truck. Also it's a lot less noticable in a bigger vehicle. 70 in a Chevette feels like 120 in a Caprice.

look into a diablosport predator tuner. you can adjust the fuel and timing curves, and crank up the line pressure. i have one on my '05 and love it.

2300# with driver? Thant's not even the cargo load on my '82 3/4 ton!

But jsut think of the HP/Wt ration for that 100ho shot - 21l#/HP for the Honda, 54#/HP for the truck. Big difference.

I bet a chip with a nox trigger (less timing, more fuel) would make a big difference.

Personal experiance. Had a 150 dry NOS nitrous shot on my bolt on 2001 SS Camaro. You could feel it, but nothing like a 100 wet shot. Once I made the change, it was incredible. Now, I know the PCM because I tune LS based motors, the MAF should be picking up on the added dry shot and adding fuel via the injectors. But for some reason, it never feels very strong.

Couple my experience with a 5000+ lb brick, yeah, that 100 shot isn't going to be all Fast and Furious setting you back in the seat. Hell, even in my 3,900lb truck, when the 100 shot came on at the track, to me there was no night and day difference other than the sound and time slip.
