Need Input - newer seats in the Blazer
 

I picked up some Durango front seats (new still in the plastic) late last year and I want to put them in my Blazer - however - I don't want to drill extra holes to mount them - anybody have any insight on how to get these to mount to the original seat tracks?

Could you fab up some new mounts?

Unless either you or Brian changed the brackets in the green 69, they weren't original.

Never touched them since I have had it...hmmm - never seen any other mounting brackets to compare - thought they were original brackets with different seats...guess not.

Do you know if they used the same mounting points - I was going to swap out the carpet while I was in there so I can take a look when I get to it (this weekend pending weather), but wanted little down time so I wanted to have something ready to just swap them out and move on...

Like all projects - doesn't look like it will be an easy one...

The brackets that were in the truck were made of 2" square tubing. They were build by a PO to bolt to the stock mounting locations. I pulled them and painted them satin black and shot the areas of the seats that weren't covered by the seat covers with black vinyl paint. They always seemed like they sat too high for me. I did give Brian a set of utility buckets with the stock brackets, so he could have put the correct ones in there. Which seats do you have?

I just moved the holes were i needed them I got some 3/16 plate, layed out where I needed the bolts sticking out and inserted some grade five bolts. Works great, no welding, don't have to worry if its going to hold and the carpet hides the plate.

I have the blue vinyl seats installed with the covers (same ones you speak of in your post) and I also got the utility buckets as part of the purchase - never really looked at them (hiding in back of my garage)...maybe I should pull the brackets from those and then fab some mounts to get them to house the new Durango buckets...

Might take me an hour (exaggeration)to dig them out of the back of the garage though since I just moved some stuff around this past weekend (figures) - :(

Actually - I forgot about those utility seats being in the garage until you said that...

I would ditch the brackets that are on the lame blue seats. They are hand made and too tall in my opinion. I'd look at the brackets on the utility buckets and see what needs to be done to modify them.

there was a thread some where about the plate idea or in a thread
that sounds the best make a plate with holes in the stock mount position bolt it down to stock floor holes set your new seat get where you like it mark it slam some studs from the bottom
safe strong no holes in floor and very very universal
great idea imho

The stock seat mount brackets are really basic, if it were me, I'd go 1 of 2 routes.
1) Remove the stock mounts by drilling out the spot welds and reuse them where necessary.
2) Simply make another set of mounting brackets duplicating the factory dimensions or better yet, make em stronger.
