WIW: Stepside Tailgate?
 

I would like to sell my stepside tailgate but I'm not sure how much to ask for it. It's off my '67 and is in perfect condition except for it has been modified to eliminate the chains. As far as I know it's OEM but I'm not for sure. Any help will be appreciated.

Im interested in this as well. I"m looking to go that route for my '67 and might be interested in your tailgate.

It's a pretty simple custom made aluminum bracket set. They won't come with the tailgate but you could make or purchase a similar set. If I had the camera I would post a pic.

Maybe $200? Thats what I would pay for it if I needed one.

It depends on what you think the modifications are worth. I paid 100.00 for a super clean Stepside tailgate off of a show truck at the swap meet. In my opinion If the mods were done correctly, and it is super clean, I say 100 - 150. THat's jmho. But it looks like you could have takers at 200.:)

On a side note, I am curious. How do they keep the tailgate from flopping open without the parts interconnecting where the chains would be? It seems like if the bed flexed near the top, then the hidden latches would pop out of their holes and the tailgate would open. Or is there not that much flex in the bed when driving?

I don't see how the bed could ever flex that much. With it being bolted togehter at the cross member right below the tailgate and then the crossmember to the frame it's not going anywhere.
