Reproduction Short Fleet bed
 

I thought I remember seeing one time they you could buy a complete reproduction short/fleet bed? Or maybe in pieces. Do any of you know of a vendor that has this?

I know LMC has the whole bed in pieces. dont know of anyone with the complete bed together :chevy:

Can be bought in pieces, if you want, I have a new set of short fleet bedsides from goodmark new in the boxes. PM me, then all you'll need is the front panel, tailgate and floor.

Check with any number of the board vendors such as;

• GMCPauls
• Brothers
• Mar-K

They don't sell a complete assembly- you'll need to buy the bedsides, front header panel, tailgate, wheel tubs, cross sills, bed wood & strips and the plethora of fasteners. Don't be too shocked if you have $2000-$2500 dollars into this before paint.

Any of the BB vendors should be able to hook you up.Try the one nearest you and see if you can pick up the parts at a show or their store/whatever.I suggest this because that $2000.00-2500.00 may be $3000.00-4000.00 after shipping.

You can buy a complete swb bed kit. They're available from Southern Kentucky Classics. However, I'm not sure if they are a board vendor or not.

We sell complete beds also. they range in price from $2300 to $2800 depending on options. That is with an unfinished wood floor. If TW parts the price is less We are dealers for MAR-K and using there parts it will run a little higher but better quality. Thats everything to bolt it to the frame. That assembled w/o wood ready to mount

kinda off topic, but very curious if a guy has a good long bed ..............and just picked up the 2 sides.............would it be that difficult to cut down the rest of the long bed parts to work? I am assuming the front panel and tailgate are the same?
I have seen the beds shortened as well, but that requires some serious skill to get right.

Front panel will be the same if.... your working with a wood floor and staying with wood. If you swap one way or the other you will need to swap the front panel. The tailgate is the same regardless.

If you have the ability, cut down the long bed sides and weld them back. You can find rust free LWB's all day long, it's the rust free SWB's that will kill your bank account. :D

Yeah, I printed it out. It sounds to me like they are putting them together to sell... I'm about 70 miles from them.

I bought all the needed parts to build a short wood bed from GMC Pauls. I had a original tailgate but bought all the rest from them.

I bought mine from a local guy...$2,660....had the one piece floor and all hardware to bolt it up to the frame....here's a picture after paint....sorry nothing before though....

some one mentioned the idea of cutting down a lwb floor and bolting up repop bedsides. It will work, because that is exactly what i did. 12" off of the front of the bed and 8" off of the back. the holes in the bed floor and inside of bedsides even line up perfectly. The only issue I have is trying to round off the back of my bed floor for a smoother look. If it wasn't destroyed I would have cut the last couple inches off of the floor itself and welded it back on once the floor was cut. I'll see if I can find some pics. of when i did it.

hey Leon wheres that at in iowa in relation to Storm lake or Fairfield? I might just have to make a visit to the relitives on either side of the fammily depending on whos closer

Nate,

Storm lake is 153 mi (2hr 55 min) North of Norwalk and Fairfield is 118 mi (2hr 6 min.) Southeast. Norwalk is just southwest of Des Moines a few miles.

There is a salvage yard in Batavia, IA that used to have quite a few 67-72 Chevy trucks. Batavia is 11 miles west of Fairfield.... It's been a while since I have been down there.
