Aluminum heads

Anyone using aluminum heads? What c/r can you get out of them on 87 octane? I have a shot at some zz4 heads and was wondering if I should jump on them.

With aluminum heads anything below 10 to 1 and your good, above that the right cam and tune become more important. If you can get a good deal on them go for it,they will out perform any old head.

I'm running the Edelbrock E-Tec aluminum Vortec heads with 10.6:1 on 91 octane. With the right port, these heads will run 9.5:1 on 87 no problem. From what I know about aluminum is you can go almost one point higher than iron heads on the same octane.
