1970 Chevy Pickup Longhorn
 

Hey, does anyone have any info on the 1970 Chevy Longhorns? I heard that GM only made 1200 in 1970. Where were they built and how much would they be worth restored? I came across one for sale in ok condition for $3,500. It has no rust what so ever, however the floor panels has been redone. Brand new 350 motor and rebuilt tranny. The bed as been redone with a flat sheet of metal welded to the bed. Do you think its worth the money? Any comments please email to bateshome@yahoo.com

There's a whole slew of longhorn enthusiasts here. Some of them could tell you more about the value of it and how many were made in '70.

As for "is it worth it", well, that all depends on what your intended use would be for it. Obviously, it's not original. That has a lot to do with it's value in the eyes of a collector. As a work truck - there are probably cheaper variants out there.

It all comes down to what you want it to do for you.

In 1970, there were 5281 3/4 (C/20) Longhorns made, and 1404 one tons (C/30) Longhorns built.
As for collectors value or restoration value, welding that floor in was a bad move. It'll take quite a bit of work to fix that properly being that they only came with wooden floors.
You can get them cheaper...much cheaper. But, you get what you pay for. A new engine and fresh tranny and no rust...(if it is in fact a no rust truck) 3500 don't sound too bad.
A word to the wise...if the paint isn't the original paint from 1970...make the seller prove the no rust claim.

take a magnent with u when u go to look at it and check all the common spots for bondo such as the cab corners, rocker panels, and wheel arches. its the easiest way to find out what ur really getting
