More help needed

I posted yesterday in regards to some engine problems. I have a 70' 350 from an Impala in my 70' C10. I was having problems with hesitation and low power after engine ran for a mile or two. Motor was rebuilt 5 years ago. I've changed the tank sock, fuel lines, fuel pump, installed a regulator and cleaned the carb. Last night I changed the distributor cap, rotor button, module and plug wires. Now it won't fire. I cleaned the inside of the distributor and may have moved the part that the button screws to. Could I have knocked it out of timing? And should the tip of the rotor button be under the number one plug wire tip on the cap?

As long as you didn't move the whole distributor, then the timing should still be the same. The tip of the rotor will be under the #1 plug terminal as long as #1 is on top dead center or TDC.

Did you put the rotor on correctly? There is a notch in the side to correspond with the correct fitment. Is the cap on correctly? Again, there is a notch for correct fit. Is the firing order correct? 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 in a clockwise direction. Just some things to look at. Do you get spark? Is there power to the dizzy?

The cap is facing the same as the old one but I noticed when I took the old cap off the button was facing the fire wall.

Pull the cap back off and check the rotor again. There is only one way it can go on correctly. From what I gather, you may have put in on backwords, so now it would be off by 180 degrees. Turn your motor over so the timing marks on the balancer is on zero. Then your rotor should be pointing to #1.

I am going to double check everything tonight. I take one step forward and two steps back. I want it running so I can start the rest of the project.
