Merry Christmas from the Frozen NorthEast.

Hello, Power came back on here, been off since Thurday. In the pic below, that is not snow, it is ice, a half inch to an inch thick.

~-----------------------------------------------------------------~

Here is my Christmas Card to all of you. Thanks for a great year and for the fellowship and advice so many of you give to so many of us! May the new year find you prosperous and better off than the past year.

You guys up naaath are used to driving on snow, not ice, right? Down saaath we drive on ice, more than we get to drive on snow. So, we should be better at driving on ice....NOT! Nobody can "drive" on ice. The best you can do on ice is to not hit anything that you can't afford to pay for. On ice, you are at the mercy of your stupidity as it weaves in a bit of nature and gravity into the mix.

Glad you got electricity. My kids in Rhode Island missed out on the ice. Guess there's something to be said for living so close to the ocean and the warm(?!) currents.

....and a Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and all that to you and yours.

68C20, we got ours back Sunday evening. I have a woodstove in the shop, so we didn't get cold...smelled funny (no well pump), but the two of us, the dog and the truck were warm. The power company said this storm did more damage than the one in '98.
When you went from one room to another did you turn on the light switch by habit? We did, even with a flashlight in the other hand! Go figure.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Thanks for the card and what a good idea ,and,,a 68 good looking truck with white ice whiskers LOL .. I feel for you back there and up there .. Had few ice storms here before and know what it's like . Leaves you helpless to nature doesn't it ..
Hope it all gets over soon for all of you ... Merry Christmas to you also .. papa from Oregon

Not only did I turn on the light switch every time I walked into a room, but I frigged around with my cell phone charger for 5 minutes trying to figure out why the damn thing would not charge the phone when I plugged it in. We augment our heat with wood anyway so minus the running water we were in purty good shape.

Where are you in Maine? Funny, my older brother did a 63 or 64 Chevy half ton back in the late '70's. He named it "Slo-Motion"

We had none of that here thank goodness. Our Thursday snow turned to heavy rain during Thursday night, so we ended up with 4 inches of slush. Good thing we cleaned up Friday AM as by Saturday it was 5 above and that slush was by then solid ice.

Hey Papa, thanks. My Daughter is married to Sub-Mariner who is stationed in Bangor Washington. I know Washington is not Oregon but you are a lot closer to her than we are right now. You being in the Northwest were in the Northeast. Mama misses not having her home here for Christmas...If you see her say hey for us! Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I know where it is and been there as my wife was born about 20 miles from Bangor in Bremerton .. I took the 71 up through that area last summer and ,,man was it a great drive .. Tell your daughter to go and see the old town called Port Townsend as it is small and quaint and has lots to look at .. Not all that far from her in fact she might be able to see the shores of it from where she lives ,,if on base..

Keep safe with all the ice up there. We had that come through last year, and I hope it's a while before we see it again.

Happy holidays to you and your family!

Re: Merry Christmas from the Frozen NorthEast.

Truck does not see the Salt, I pull it off the road until April rains wash the roads off. Most of the time it is in my barn, until I need the space for something or another. A little ice or snow wont hurt it any.
