Advice on Body work in Lexington
 

That's Lexington, KY. I'm looking to get floorboards, cab mounts, inner and outer rockers, cab corners, and kick panels put in and primered. Any body in the area have someone they could suggest? I've been told $1500 to $2000 by several different guys. This seems a little steep for labor only. Plan on buying parts through truck board members.

My preference would be to try my hand at doing all of this myself, but don't have the tools or the facility. So if anybody out there is looking for a good way to tie up a couple of weeks...

If the place does quality work, considering all the work you need done and the time to do it, and welding supplies and primer etc., thats probably not a bad price. Did you get it in writing? I have had quotes that seem reasonable, and when the job was done, "OH BY THE WAY GOTTA CHARGE YOU MORE, ITS MORE MONEY THAN WE THOUGHT"!

OR, for about $600. you could buy a solid rust free cab from KYMIke on the board. He is located in Taylorsville, Ky. I personally know the Cab and it is a good one. Shoot Mike a e-mail and perhaps he still has it. I would much rather swap out a good cab then trying to rebuild a bad one. the end result will always be better, and the cost will be much less. Solid Foundation
 

Huck is right on the money about trying to fix a rusty truck. For the money you could find a good solid rustfree one to start with, makes life a whole lot simplier. Unless this was some kind of one of a kind piece, restoring rust is a pain, just ask anybody that lives up here in the Salt and Rust Belt! Go for the solid foundation to begin with, theres enough rustfree pieces out there to do it right the first time, and save them from the crusher besides! There is a guy near me dealing really sweet rustfree Texas and AZ truck parts he could help you out if you want his number. He probably could drop it off to you on his way back to Michigan.

I hate when that happens! They aren't making anymore, once there gone thier gone forever!
