Desert Rose

So thought it would be a good idea to start a build thread and see what kind of feed back I get from everyone in the process, good, bad, ideas, and of course help. Also I like taking pictures and everyone, like me, seems to enjoy viewing pictures of builders progress and rides. So to begin I bought this 70 long bed from a buddy of mine for $2k and not much has changed since it came into my hands. There were a few things wrong with the truck when I got it though, things that only took a screw driver and common sense to fix.
lowered truck and left bump stop in with no shocks
vacuum line disconnected on trans
put in a glove box
connected heater
speedo cable
door panels painted and put on
window and door handles
and other little misc. details
Also Truck has a 350 with 350 trans
Here is the good stuff, Pics!

Going to make subtle changes to the truck and make it my DD, biggest change will be bagging the truck and swapping to a 327 with overdrive trans. I am sure there will be little things to go along and I will post as they happen or an idea comes to me. I don't know what else to write so anything I have left out that you may want to know just ask.

I do not know what to tell you, your truck has a really clean look. almost undisturbed. i like it, the best part to me has to be the stock rims, not sure why, but it is.

That is an oddly good looking truck, just something about it. I say add the bags, an AOD trans and leave the 350 in it unless it has problems or you already have a better 327 other wise why waist the money. Then add a front bumper and drive the wheels off it. Don't worry about the little bit of rust in the rockers it looks better all one color then it would if the rust was fixed and primmer spots;)

I am right with you on those ideas, front bumper is going back on, wheels are staying with the dog dish hubcaps and the rust is staying. 350 is coming out, I bought a rebuilt 327 and 400 trans from a guy for $500. I sold the trans for $400 and ended up with a rebuilt 327 with camel humps for $100. Another thing I am going to do is add either a Gennie or Lokar shifter.

So here is a little bit of any update on my pickum up truck. Worked on the front end and tried to get as low as possible with the stocks drums up front, here is a picture. We modified the LCA and welded in some pipes so the bag would sit in there and cut the spring pocket on the cross member so the LCA would have more travel.

So now I after all that work I came up on discs from a 76 and now going to swap all that stuff up front and going to see how low I can get without spindles and a smaller tire, I was running a 235/75. Any comments are cool and ideas thrown my way or questions. Also I have a question. What do I do about brake lines and such for swapping from drums to discs?

I thought it would be easy to maintain a thread but then not really. Here is the truck after being bagged. I still need to do a wheel alignment, mount tak and compressor, plumb the system, and a few other items. Although I didn't maintain my thread I did take pictures along the way, well of some stuff, so if you have questions, concerns, or comments please feel more than free to ask.

Nice! I love the poverty caps. :metal:

Maybe wider, larger steel wheels would be cool, but I'd keep those dog dishes...

What kind of drop did your truck start out before you bagged it. Also I realized i need to find me some dog dishes! Your truck looks great.
