71 chevy c10....6 cylender

I wish mine was still the 6, cause it was moving. Not much difference in MPG, but a 6 will do your truck thing and they will cruise at hiway speed. But to hot rod, the 8's are cheaper to make them go fast.

More than likely it is a 250, but could be a 292. I would say you have a good combo if everything else is good, have pwr steering and brakes is good on them. Most I have seen with sixs don't have the pwr steering or brakes options.

Nice find since your will have power Brakes & Steering.

Most of us have to convert to power everything on our trucks. :whine:

thanks for reply guys. i thought it was a bit odd, yet good that the power options were there. as, that too, would have been something i would have to add later. guess with what i save there, can go into lowering the truck. gotta be low.

I have never seen a six cylinder with ps and pb on our year trucks. If it is stock and the engine wasn't been removed from another vehicle, then it's a good find.

Is it standard shift or automatic?

The 250 was standard. The 292 six & several v-8's were options.

Re: 71 chevy c10....6 cylender

technicly the 250 was base equipment on the CS and KS trucks, and the 283 (67 only) and 307 was base equipment on the CE and KE trucks. The engine family (inline 6, V6 *gmc only* and V8) required it's own model number.
There were millions and millions of inline 6 trucks built in 67 - 72.
The power steering, if original is a rare find, and valuable parts.
