Exhaust Manifolds

I have a 350 engine out of a 1991 K1500 pickup ( newer body style 4X4 truck ) that I'm gonna put this engine in my 2wd 73 Suburban. I'm wanting to know if anybody knows if the 1991 stock exhaust manifolds will fit between the 73 frame. I've measured & it looks close.

I don't see why they wouldn't. Why are you using the manifolds from that motor? If they are too wide, you can probably find another set from a 350 that may be a little tighter. Or, if you have the money, a set of headers built to the rig would be awesome.

I can't say for certain, but I don't think they'll work without cutting the frame. I've heard of a couple of guys having issues with the newer manifolds in the '63-'72 trucks, which have the same width frames. It may be easier to use the manifolds from the '73 and weld in the bung for the O2 in the exhaust pipe. That is if you're running the TBI.

I had a newer engine in a 74 I had around 92 or so . I used the later manifolds and the driver side is real close . I remember using a brass plug in the O2 sensor hole and there may have been 1/8 inch clearance . I clearanced the frame about an 1/8 inch and it was fine . I remember the passenger side being fine .

Re: Exhaust Manifolds

Driveway Dreams, I have headers on the truck now. The old headers are rusted though, leaking & hang down too low. I'm just tired of having to fix header leaks, and the engine is bone stock.

Thanks f.monroe. That's what I wanted to know. Did you use the engine accessories from the newer engine? I'm also concerned that the newer power steering pump uses a metric threaded pressure hose that may not work with my older steering box. I know there was a change in the steering boxes, but I don't know exactly what the changes were.

Decided to go with earlier style exhaust manifolds. A buddy of mine had a set laying around in his shed.

I'm not keeping the TPI, but I am keeping the serpentine belt set up.
