how to do a burnout?
Isn't there a certain technique to doing a burnout?
|
Re: how to do a burnout?
Yes there is!
1.) Start the truck 2.) Put it in drive or 1st gear 3.) Stomp on the pedal furthest to the right 4.) Don't wreck Honestly, theres nothing to think about, just get on it. |
Re: how to do a burnout?
I thought you use the brake a little?
|
Re: how to do a burnout?
If you need to use the brake, you don't have enough power. Real cars/trucks don't need to apply the brakes to do a decent burnout.

Re: how to do a burnout?
I put in a 290hp crate motor. not enough?
|
Re: how to do a burnout?
it's a good start!
if you do use the brake, just use enough to keep the truck from rolling, and you don't have to rev the piss out of it to keep it spinning once it starts, your motor will thank you. 3-4k rpm should do it. |
Re: how to do a burnout?
Back of trucks have no weight over them, should be easy to burnout with 290 hp and a heavy enough foot.

Re: how to do a burnout?
Mine aways wants to hop, weird how some trucks really hook and some want to bounce, mines a manual tho, pozi too, maybe shes just a pooch....

Re: how to do a burnout?
Left foot lightly on brake, right foot to the floor, and let'er roll out! Just use the brake to keep the truck rolling steady. Rollin' burnouts > Brake stands.

Re: how to do a burnout?
two words..... line lock

Re: how to do a burnout?
Even my ol' V6 Firebird and mom's Jimmy could light up easy.

Re: how to do a burnout?
Am I supposed to be in 1st gear?
|
Re: how to do a burnout?
Yes, otherwise it will try and upshift. Unless you have the power the burn out will end. Just keep your RPMs in check.
|
Re: how to do a burnout?
well, i hold the brake to get em started rolling up to about 3500 rpm then let off the brake give it 2nd and mash it on down!

Re: how to do a burnout?
the best pavement for doing a burnout is directly in front of the police station:ito:

Re: how to do a burnout?
Is this no big deal or am I really putting a lot of strain on the truck. It has all new parts.

Re: how to do a burnout?
In all honesty:
For drag racing (at the track in a manual) set the line lock, put it in 2nd, rev to ~3500, pop the clutch, bring the rpms up to about 5000 for a few seconds depending on the tire temp and smoke production, release line lock and roll forward tell the tires grab. Proceed to the line. |

Re: how to do a burnout?
I just floor it. My truck has an open diff but after doing it a lot, now both tires spin. So it's actually a good thing.
