NEED ADVICE !!! z71 rear end swap into a 1990 4wd burb
Hello,
I have acquired a z71 rear end for my 90 4wd burb. When I picked up the rear end it looked right. Now that I look at it the shock absorber perches look different. I am wondering if it will cause problems or to just go ahead and swap it and hope for the best. Everything else looks like it will fit and its the same ratio as the original. I have to get this truck back on the road since I have been told my 89 burb must find a new home and none of my sons want to drive it. Thanks Steve |

So it came out of a Z71 truck? what year? You can also swap the shock perches, just cut them off and weld them on it you can or take it to someone that can.

Hello, seen your post on the rear end. So if I read this right. The 88 to 99 1/2 ton pickup rear ends will fit in a older 73 to 91 1/2 ton suburbans, only the shock mount has to be changed? The spring perch is the same width? Thanks.

I can't remember his name, but a guy on here did a 88-98 rear end swap to his 73-87 in his 5.3/4L60E swap thread. If I remember right he had to weld on spring perches and shock mount, but the rear end is the right width. Just slightly wider but only by an inch overall.
