aluminum radiators and mounts

I was looking at this aluminum radiator on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ht_3171wt_1167

he said it would work with the 4 row radiator mounts. what mounts did these come on, what trucks?

my 72 with 350 probably would need different mounts then right? where to get mounts to mount it up properly?

Hummm... interesting. I might need to look at buying one of these.

As for mounts, I believe there were two styles, the 2/3 core and the 4 core. I believe the lower mounts and the upper brackets are different and need to be of the matching kind.

Not sure if the aftermarket has these or if you have to source them from an old truck.

As for what you have, most likely the 2/3 core style, as these were more common. 4 core typically was for the heavier (C20/30) trucks, BBC (most likely) and towing packages for SBC. My guess based on what I have seen but I am not the expert when it comes to options.

Look around here on the forum, i remeber somebody else looking at one of these radiators on ebay, and there was alot of good info in that thread about them.

I believe the ebay radiator that was mentioned on this forum is built by ebay seller Entropy: http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Entropy-...__W0QQ_armrsZ1

If I have missed a discussion regarding the radiator referred to in this thread let me know.

As a comparison, the radiator by engineered-products is $254 shipped. The radiator by entropy is $364 shipped...I did ask entropy what the price was for a radiator without fans.

I would be interested what the difference is between the two radiators since $254 is great price on a "drop in" radiator.

Re: aluminum radiators and mounts

Here is a thread on the Entropy radiators. We are devising a custom mount as it was a bit too wide to use stock mounts:

Just read this seller's entire auction and he really knows his sh!t when it comes to aluminum radiators. He is absolutely correct in his analysis. His radiator should cool well if it really has 2 rows of one inch tubes. His seller feedback rating is 100%. If I go with aluminum, I am going to try his radiator out since the price is so good.

Any of the Venders here on the board sell them they are for the heavy duty 4core radiators some small block trucks had them and I believe all Bigblock trucks did as well.. Brothers ,LMC,also have them. Thats a good price for an aluminum radiator if you buy it let us know how it mounted in and we love pictures so please post them up if you do make the purchase....

Well, I pulled the trigger just now. It looked like a really nice setup and the price seems good.

I'll post up once I get it though it will be a little while before it will be installed.

Possibly to early to ask, but do you have the radiator yet? Really interested in this radiator.

Okay got the radiator. Looks like a nice item. Almost has a stock look to it and if painted black, could almost pass as a stock one. I forgot to take pics inside the neck but it is two 1" tubes as claimed.

No idea on fit as it will be a little while before I am at that point. Just didn't want to miss a deal.

I also just ordered one of these radiators from these same people. Mine should ship out on MOnday and arrive on Friday. It will be installed Saturday morning if it will work with the 4 core radiator mounts. Im going to order those this week as well.

What size are the transmission cooling fittings on this rad?

Re: aluminum radiators and mounts

I just found this thread, I have already bought and installed that radiator in my '69 with 350/350 . All I did was move the left bottom mount in about 2 inches and moved the left top mount over. It was a very easy install. I used my original heater lines and left the radiator plugged. Here are some pictures that I took while installing, I should have done a better job of pictures but I will try to answer any questions.

I noticed you had to use an adapter on the upper hose, did you also on the lower?

I have contacted him about adding a port for the steam fitting for an LS swap and he said he would add it for $20. I am sure if you asked he would make the inlet and outlet sizes any size you want.

I'm not a fan of having to move the supports, why did you have to?

Me as well.

Hey Chevy Mike did that Raditor Cap 16psi come with the rad?

Man that looks like it would cool a 500hp SBC. :metal:

Yep, what you see is what came out of the box. Cap even had a chain so you can attach it to your core support and ever lose it.

Also to confirm the question above, yes the extra fitting on the pass. side of the radiator is a return line for the heater. It is plugged so you can use it or just go back to the intake like stock. I haven't made up my mind which I will use.
