Just start a new project last week, found a guy on craigslist selling a 70 shortbed, said body was ruff. boy he wasn't kidding cab and bed were complete junk nothing on it was any good except VIN plate and title. so i bought it anyway, and hauled it home. and was going to work on the chassis and find body parts here and there to complete it. the very next day im on craigslist again and find a guy on the other side of the state selling a rust free cab, bed hood, fenders, doors, core support, and bunch of other parts one would need all from out west he bought 8 years ago for his project that never went anywhere. it is a long bed but before i scraped the old bondo infested short bed i practiced cutting 8" out of it. so i feel confident i could cut the longbed and make it a shortbed.
Iv just got the frame stripped of it cross members and and trailing arms, I had nate from porterbuilt street rods build me some trailing arms and xmember, should be here in a few days. tomorrow i will get it ready to go to sandblasting.

im going to lower it. 4 wheel disc, I just bought boss 338 wheels (18's) hopefully find a nice 5.3l or 6.0 to put in it.

I'm subscribing to this build thread hoping that you'll post more pics soon! Saw your pics (including the one below) in the Boss 338 thread and have some questions. Specifically, I'm wondering what you're using for motor mounts and tranny crossmember because it looks like you're having the same issue with engine angle as I am -- seemingly tipped back too far and I'm wondering what, if anything, you have in mind to correct the angle. (Not criticizing, just observing.)

Whatever the case, great project and FAST progress in just a couple months!

To tell the truth I havnt given the angle much thought, (Yet) if i was useing a carb engine i might be a little more critical of it. im using cpp tubular mounts and their tubular crossmember. the angle is 7 degrees and it looks like a small spacer under the trans mount would take care of most of it if not all of it. I check a 02 silverado which is the same as the donor truck and it measued 3 degrees.

I was originally using the CPP tubular mounts but switched to the ECC Gen3 kit when I was trying to figure out header clearance issues and it looked like the CPP mounts were going to interefere. I'm also using the CPP tranny crossmember and think that the mounting tab should have been welded to the top rather than the bottom. I'm also looking at having to fabricate a spacer, and I've seen several other people with the same issue, which makes me wonder how that particular design made it to market.

Like you, I'm not worried about carb angle, but I am very concerned about getting the driveline geometry right. I don't want my tranny tipped down at 7° and the rear end up at 3°. I'm torn between fabbing a spacer and just getting a different crossmember from somewhere else (which I know may have the same problem).

here are some pictures of the build. me and some buddies put the cab on friday and now my back is killing me, so im gonna take few days off from working on it. i want it done by the end of april. better not slack off to much.

factory 5.3l engine wire harness, removed all unnecessary wires and pinouts thanks to the LT1 swap web site. not as bad as it looks. can you believe the kids had no desire to play pool until i put that **** all over it.

02 5.3l. put the boy to work. it wasn't dirty enough for him, he wanted to get greasy. he hasn't been out to help since.

What type of fuel hose did you use? Also I am looking for info on brake lines. Did you use the coiled type or straight tubing?

Thanks guys! your right heymoe, they do look alike, I used -6 push lok hose, I added the cost of going all diffrent ways, steel braided, hard line and a combonation of all three and it turned out the push lok from front to back was the cheapest. brake lines were straight pieces that i bent and flared.

The headers are sanderson's. they came with the engine. I got the engine from a guy who was building a s10 but ran out of money. I figured thats what they were suppose to fit, but they fit great in a c10. with plenty of room and should be no interference problems, but i don't have the exhaust run yet.

Can you tell me more about your tranny cooler lines? I see you've got them running off to the side and back.
