Gas Tank..

I was looking for opinions on who sells the best tank. My 72 Blazer tank is full of rust and to have it cleaned/sealed locally will be upwards of 200$.. Looking at LMC I can replace it for less. There are other companies that sell a poly tank also. I was wondering from your guy's exp what the best route is to go and who sells quality.

Thank ya,

Reid

tagging along,

I just picked up a 72 Blazer that has a monster sized gas tank, and would like to hear about options too.

I got a metal one but I all think they sell the same one from one manufacture
I am sure someone will chime in. If you go metal you will need to have your old neck welded on. Also the original straps are much better fit. The repo tank is a hybrid suburban/blazer tank

I replaced mine with a LMC tank. Do not discard your old tank, you will need to transfer the inlet to the new tank. I had a heck of a time finding the replacement hose but I found one at Classic Chevy out of OKC.

Dang it, and I just told my wife I didn't need to buy anything else for the truck. I was down to 4 tires, 2 batteries, a quadrajet, and a partridge in a pear tree. Wonder IF I could hide this one somewhere, really do need a fuel cell

Hint...Hint...if your old rusty tank is not leaking...remove it out...empty all big rust from tank...fill the tank full of hot water....Add one can of crystal drain o cleaner..and tilt it side to side for about 10 minutes...drain out...rince with cold water...then put a gallon of paint thinner inside. slosh it around.for final rinse..then reinstall... I have done this alot..and only costs about $30...And a few hours work..

PS also cleans a ratiator out very good too...

I bought a steel tank kit from Brothers, replaced the fuel neck, painted and reinstalled. Its not a weekend job from start to finish.
