Just wondering about my Suburban ...

Re: How many made?

As far as I can tell GM never broke down production numbers all the way down to every option. Unlike Mopar muscle cars that did; we only get a break down of production numbers as far down as 1/2 ton , 3/4 ton, suburban, blazer, truck, 2x4, and 4x4. I do have a book that will tell you how many 1969, 3/4 ton, barn door or clam shell door, 2 wheel drive suburbans were made. As far as how many of those had big blocks, tachs, and bucket seats, we will never know exactly.

Re: How many made?

It even has cruise control. Although it doesn't look functional anymore. It looks aftermarket or dealer installed.

... AND it has an alarm system on it, circa 1969 ... it consist of an old time metal bell (like an old fire alarm bell) tied into all the door switches. The key to activate it was hidden under the grill. This is defintely not fnctional.

It was MacDaddy!!!!!

Re: How many made?

2736 C/20 burbs in 69.
My book doesn't show barn doors verses clamshell though, not till 71 anyways.

Re: How many made?

Longhorn man and I must have the same book. Didn't notice until last night but mine only breaks it down into clamshell and barn doors in 1971 and after as well. While I can't give you an exact number of how many suburbans came equipped like yours I can give you a % of light duty trucks/burbs that had certain options (Excludes Vans).

1969 Suburban production numbers:
1/2 ton 2x4= 14,056
1/2 ton 4x4= N/A
3/4 ton 2x4=2,736
3/4 ton 4x4= 545

Percent of vehicles that had the following options in 1969:

Big block 396: 4%
Center and rear seat: 26%
Bucket seats: N/A for 1969 but shows only 4% for 1972.
A/C: N/A for 1969, but shows 35% for 1968 and 16% for 1970.
Posi Rear: 9%
Tachometer: 1%
Push button radio: 41%
Bucket seats: N/A for 1969, but showed 2% for 1968 and 4% for 1972.
Full gauges: 30%
CST package: 6% (most likely only pertained to trucks)
Tilt wheel: N/A for 1969, but shows 2% for 1971, and 9% for 1972.

Re: How many made?

i hate the way those numbers look. The % numbers are for all 10 - 30 c and K trucks including panels, burbs, cab/chassis, and possibly P serries trucks too (not sure on the P trucks)
It does seem that the big blocks were common in 3/4 ton suburbans. You seem to see more original big block burbs than big block trucks. The A/C and posi also seem to be more common in the family wagon burb too.

Re: How many made?

Longhorn man, I hate the way they have those percentages too. You are right that certain types of vehicles may have had way more or less of an option than the % shows for vehicles as a whole. Those numbers should definately be taken with a grain of salt.

Anyone have that info on the 70 burb? I was told it was the fewest of any of the 5 years, is that true?

1/2 ton 4x2: 11,332
1/2 ton 4x4: N/A
3/4 ton 4x2: 2,246
