Coooool Panel Wes. 396 sounds great! You're gonna have to make that new shed bigger! Might have to send some of your 'family' down here..........
Bruce.

71Chev 03-22-2002 12:59 AM

Cool Wes!
I really wanted to bid on that, but future plans have me on a tight budget.

Are you gonna leave the Chevy front on it? Or back to GMC?

Classic Heartbeat 03-22-2002 01:12 AM

Thanks guys.. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/board/ubbhtml/smile.gif You hit the nail right on the head ebfabman.. My logo on both sides..LOL It will be painted white then my company colors of Classic Heartbeat in red, then the Cobalt blue line under that, and finally under the line, in black, Pickup Parts..

As to wether I leave the chevy nose on it, that is a good question. I like the look of the chevy nose better than GMC, however GMC looks great also. It will remain chevy for now at least. If I find a great deal on a GMC front clip I may change it sometime in the future. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Welcome to the "Panel" Club Wes! I considered bidding on it as well. Seller claims it is really solid. I heard GMC Paul is doing a company Panel Truck too ...hmmm maybe a photo shoot should be arranged..

Congrats!

Well I hope so.. LOL I have talked to him quite extencivly about it and it is just about as solid as they come. I will find out!! I went up to Renton, WA to look at another panel for sale for $2000.00 and called the owner befor I left to ask about how much rust it had. His answer was verry little, the worst spot was a hole the size of a quarter. So off I went to go look at it.... Man I darn near didn't get out of my truck, that thing had so much rust that if you were to go arround a corner too fast the body would have broke away leaving you holding the steering wheel!! LOL WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

71Chev 03-22-2002 01:36 AM

I vote to leave the chevy nose on it. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/board/ubbhtml/smile.gif
I gotta get one someday.

I'll have to check my time scedule 68SWB4x4. I have thought about buying some good rust frre parts while I am down there. I have to go to Elk Grove, then down to Palmdale and finally back home. I am undecided if I am going to take my panel down to Palmdale or just load it on the truck on the way back. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

fine69 03-22-2002 02:32 AM

Sounds like fine69 will have to get his 70 panel out of the garage this weekend. The suspension swap is in high gear. The more i look at my panel the more i like it. Yea baby. Sweet.

ryan68 03-22-2002 10:10 AM

Are you gonna leave it that low too WES? I think I may see a tubbed drag panel? hehe

Classic Heartbeat 03-22-2002 10:32 AM

Ya, it will stay that low.. I like the stance. I will probly change the way it was done though. I like for it to have great driving carictoristics also. I will probly go with a 71-72 front crossmember and steering, then 2 1/2" lowering spindles with 2" lowering springs. I am not sure about the rear because I forgot to ask if it was leaf spring or control arm. I favor keeping as much spring as possible and lower by other means. Who knows I may just leave it alone and go with air bags when I save up enough money. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Very nice. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished. What transmission do you plan on putting behind that 396? I didn't see the auction, so I don't know what's in it now. You want that TH400 back? hehe http://67-72chevytrucks.com/board/ubbhtml/smile.gif

I am not too sure yet. It will either be a t-400 or a t-350 built up to handle a big block. I like the t-350 better because I have heard that it uses less power than the t-400 and if you build them up wright the are just as strong. My BB 68 GMC will give up it's 396 for the panel and it has a good t-400 transmission already in it. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com
