Bed liner - just so you know. . .

I posted a few days ago that I was wondering if a 73-87 bed liner would work in our pickups. Well, I tried one out this weekend and here's the scoop --

The 73-87, under-the-rail liner from Penda fits good, but not perfect. The length is correct but it is about 1 inch to short in height, which means it doesn't go all the way to the top of the bed under the rails. Other than that, the fit is perfect. The tailgate piece does fit perfectly. Locally, it cost about $200.00.

Good info. How did you overcome the height problem. Also, is this a short, or a long bed?

longhornmail, it's a longbed. I don't think I'll need to do anything about the height problem. You don't really notice it unless your looking real close. I'll try to post some pictures later and you can tell me if it looks ok.

I had one given to me, it had a 2 ft. split near one of the wheel wells. It was for a later model longbed with the edges over the bedrails. It fit ok but I tend to carry a lot of gear around when working. Everything slip-sliding and banging against the walls.
Took it for a final ride to the dump.

Johnnyp, I asked this question on the other post also, but never saw the answer. Iīm curious why you donīt like the spray-in liners. Is it just a cost issue?

Tynee, I did reply on the other post, but here it is again --

Tynee, I want the extra protection the drop-in provides, especially for the front panel and the tailgate. Spray-ons give good scratch protection, but not so good against dents. But, probably the main reason is I just don't like the look of spray-on.
