88-98 seat in 73-87???

I bought a bench seat out of a '98 chevy truck to put into my '59. I was thinking about possibly putting the '98 seat in my '83 and then the '83 seat in the '59. Anyone know if the '98 seat will go into the '83 smoothly?

I just put one in my 86. I took a piece of 3/16x4" flatbar and bent both ends to mount in the factory 86 locations. Then I took the 94 seat frame and cut 2" off the bottom of the bracket. I then took my flatbar and welded to the bottom of the 94 frame. Takes some doing but isn't too bad. I don't have any pictures right now but, I can get some saturday.

Looks simple enough. I want to change the seat up in my 74, looks like this is a good way to do it.

I have a 91 seat in my '73. I used the 73 seat track and the square tubing spacer as shown and the back one bolted thru the stock hole.

The seat is out of the truck if more pictures required.

I did it similar to KQQL IT...I cut my original '78 tracks to fit the base of the '94 seat. I think using the original '94 seat base would result in the seat being too high.

You can't just use the original 88-98 seat frame...you cut 2" off the bottom then weld flat bar to both sides. By doing it this was it is a little higher than a stock seat. If you didn't take the 2" off the 88-98 frame it would sit too high.

I have an 88 or 89 bench on early 80s brackets in my 76. I used some spacers on the front bolts and just bolted the rear ones down. It sits a little lower overall I think but it worked out well. I think my feet are a tad closer to the pedals due to the seat being lower but not really a huge deal. You could use some square tubing or something to bring the seat up an inch or two if it bugged you.

Well with the way things are looking around here my wifes caddy is going to go bye bye. Blew the tranny two years ago and havent had the money to fix it, dont have a garage so its been out in the weather for those years so you get the picture.

I told her before it gets scrapped if thats what it comes to Im pulling the front seat out and putting it in my '80 minus the power stuff (although Im sure I could figure it out given a chance).

If that does happen I will post pics on what it looks like. That seat is REALLY comfy, like riding in a couch

For those of you using the 73-87 sliders/ brackets, it looks like you utilized the back hole in the seat, and then had to space up the front bracket. On my 60/40 seat it looks like the 73-87 bracket is a LOT longer than the distance between holes in the seat. Did yall trim down the sliders and drill new holes or ???

Holes in seat are 14" front to back, holes in the 73-87 bracket are 18"
