Axle Bearing Question

Just got a set of axle bearings and seals today that I ordered last week for my 1972 GMC 1500 Super Custom. I haven't had a truck 12 bolt apart before. Always had a shop or someone else set them up for me. But I'm tackling this one myself.

Anyways... I assumed the bearings were like the 12 bolt car axles and needed to be pressed off and on the axleshaft. The ones i got delivered today are like a semi-floater that gets beat into the end of the axle tube. The rear end is still in the truck so I haven't yarded the axles out of it yet.

So my question is... are all truck 12 bolts set up this way like a semi-floater as far as the axle bearing go? Or are some like the car 12 bolts and have the bearings on the axleshafts?

Re: Axle Bearing Question

Every 12 bolt I have ever seen, has the bearings pressed into the tube. That includes both car and truck.
