Me again, more help please

Hello again, im just goin through a list of things that i want to fix on my truck. its a 1988 gmc sierra sle 1500. Ever since i got it the steering has been really tight. I know it needs ball joints but would that make a difference? The power steering is working and the resevoir is full.

Thanks,
Dathan

Normally it would have a loose feel with worn joints. However if the ball joints were dry it will even sort of screech some. The lowers are usually the ones. The joint consists of a steel ball wrapped in a nylon type collar in the socket. Old dried grease or lack of will make em noisey.
A tired old steering pump could possibly be the blame for low pressure assist.
