1967 lwb fleet.ill give it a go.my 75$ truck.

OK.Please dont poke fun or anythin, but ive decided ill give one of these build threads a go.
Now,im goin in as a senior in highschool, so i dont have a lot of money. But thats no excuse to half-a$$ anything.
My names Dylan Martin.im 17 I live in mohave valley,az.(30 mins from lake havasu, were along the river.)In otherwords, hell.its 117 out right now.

I dont have a garage,yet.its being built.So I do all my stuff in my 10'w x 15'L shed.
Anywayss..

at 14 i pulled a 1967 c10 lwb fleetside with a turbo 400/327 sbc out of my friends grandmas backyard not knowing what it was,it was a CHEVY and a truck so i wanted it.She told me 100$.SOLD!
Its sat ever since.
I since then restored(to an extent) and drive a 1978 k20 on a 9' lift and 40's.LINK- http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=469569

My plans for this 1967 c10.-
--fix all cancer and rust.
--100% rebuild on the 327,keeping it for the cool factor, its not gonna be a race truck, why go with the crowd on the 350?
--all new rubber.
--Rebuild front end,(new bushings joints etc)
--add power brakes
--add power steering
--Pearl white and factory light blue interior
--Pearl white exterior paint
--a descently low lowering job
--maybe 5 lug conversion and throw my crager SS's on it?
--disc brakes up front.
--eventually a vintage air AC kit.
--Make EVERYTHING WORK.
--tint windows

This trucks going to end up being my driver/trip truck. My goal is to make it VERY comfy/enjoyable.I do NOT want it to overheat, and i want it to be somewhat quiet with a slight rumble to it.nothing too hi-po.

A LOT of my mods and fixing-ups will be what you can classify as the " Under 50$ mods".

Like rick dale on Ricks Restorations says, ATTENTION TO DETAIL.Except i dont have enough money to make it a show truck.
I will be posting pictures on what i have gotten done, and some of the truck when i forst got it.

LOTS of questions for me to ask, so i hope atleast a few will follow. thanks guys!

Re: 1967 lwb fleet.ill give it a go.my 75$ truck.

sounds like a good build im going to be a junior after summer vacation and i am 15 going on 16 and i have a 67 that i have built from well nothing (complete basketcase)

well now that we have some simialirties:welcoem::welcome2: to the 67 72 :chevy: :gmc: side of the board!
and for crineout loud! through some pics up of the 67!
:wop:
i will try to tell you anythin you want to know about a 67,

what are your plans for this? you want the interior to have its stock components?

or do you want what ever you can find?

because just about everything in the dahs and cab of a 67 is a 67 only part.

Here is gonna be one area of interest for me.i may need help.I cant exactly afford new rockers and stuff. But i certainly dont want to do a hack job on it.

i have a lot of sheet metal, a welder(miller wire feed, its almost half as big as the truck), grinder, sawzall, dremel, arc welder etc.

THE ROT!

Driver side--

Re: 1967 lwb fleet.ill give it a go.my 75$ truck.

Holy rust ! rockers are only about $30 each and front floors are $40-$50 , thats what i paid anyway, you will probably find more rust behind all the visible stuff. likely the lower section of the pillars and maybe even cab supports. These trucks are so popular and plentiful that replacement panels are very reasonable. good luck looks like a good project !

If you search rocker replacement or floor replacement you will find some good detailed threads with lots of pics to guide you in your repair.

I have a 1967 small window c20 lwb parts truck, but the rockers and same places are rotted too!

whats with that? popular place?

tonight i re-did my entire dash bezel/guage instrument thing.all new paint, detailed foil taped,LED bulbs etc. pics tomorrow.i thnik it turned out fairly descent!

Re: 1967 lwb fleet.ill give it a go.my 75$ truck.

if i can get the money up,im hoping to chop this baby into a shortbed.

Well i got the engine torn down.

sad story on the crank.:waah: has a DEEP valley in one part.
It took me about 3 hours to get the dam rod caps off.
whats with that?! they were ALL like stuck on.first time its ever done that to me.

Is this crank pretty much junk, or can i get it turned and be ok?

Truck looks pretty good and those parts that are rusty are easy to repair and the replacement panels are cheap..

Re: 1967 lwb fleet.ill give it a go.my 75$ truck.

well yesterday we had party day out on the river(hit 122 degrees outside)

and now the monsoons have started setting in.

only thing i could get done was the dash bezel/instrument cluster.

QUESTION.--on the circut board(flimsy plastic deal) it has nuts that hold it onto the back of the guages.on 2 of the spots the nuts spun ther circut board as it was stuck to the nut and it creased the plastic. is this okay?

the camera which took the pic sucks.the imperfections arent really there.haha

Re: 1967 lwb fleet.ill give it a go.my 75$ truck.

as long as the circuit board can pass a curcuit to the studs you should be all right.
bezel looks GOOD! keep up the good work bud!

dmartin1 07-03-2011 05:02 PM

Re: 1967 lwb fleet.ill give it a go.my 75$ truck.

the bezel only cost me 4$ to re-model.so my expectations werent high at all.

cool, hopefully i wont have to replace the board.thanks!
