'71 Owners
In another thread discussing cab differences something interested came out about '71 cabs. Some have the driver side door jamb vent that all '72s have and some don't. Things like this raise my curiosity and now I'm wondering what the rhyme or reason is to this ...if there is any. Was it late in the year? Air conditioned trucks? Only blue ones? (J/K)
After you vote yay or nay, please post what you know about your truck. Does it have the vent,A/C or not,or if you know, was it earlier in the model run or later. If you have any other info you feel could have an effect on this, please spout it out...thanks! |
Re: '71 Owners
Mines an early run pretty basic w/o the vent.

Re: '71 Owners
I didn't know how to account for having more than one in the pol. My experience has been no '71 with the vent. I realize some maybe did,but I never took notice, didn't care at the time,or just don't recall. But,none lately including a non-air K/10 SWB Custom Deluxe I just sold and my Custom/30 tow truck.

Re: '71 Owners
I have factory AC in mine...now removed. I always wondered what that vent was for, being near the gas I thought it maybe a way of making sure there was permanent air flow in the cab??

Re: '71 Owners
'71 Non-AC, no vent.
Not sure of production date. |
Re: '71 Owners
Mine has a vent and its blue with a/c.
If anyone has a question about the actual year of the cab, 71 is the only year with a raised pad on the inner roof for the rear view mirror. |
Re: '71 Owners
My '71 has the vent, although I'm not 100% sure it's the original cab. It's a 1/2 ton swb 350/350, a/c, ps, pb truck but we found evidence of cab lights at one point.

Re: '71 Owners
Don't laugh to hard but, I heard once the vent was so the doors would close without having to slam them. releasing pressure at the seal&latch. could be way off so be gentle! cheers, Pat
