Interior/seat swap

3 Attachment(s)
I am doing some work on my 84 chevy pickup, swapping out the tired old seat for a 60/40 grey cloth bench seat out of a 97 chevy extended cab and changing the interior color to grey to match the rest of my 80's chevys. The seat went in real nice and I got a silverado for parts that I am getting all the interior pieces out of so I can have a headliner, (mine didnt have one), some of the pieces are already grey but some are red/burgundy and need to be painted. Also swapping out doors so I have power windows/door locks. Swapped out the steering column for a tilt one with an automatic, mine is a standard and I am going with a 700 trans cause 4.10's and no overdrive sucks when every place you drive is a 90 mile round trip, ah the joys of living out in the country. Anyway, people tell me SEM is a good paint to do my interior pieces with but does anybody know what number of paint I need to match my 87 suburban grey with? They give me a can of 15163 and while I havent sprayed any of it yet, it seems a little dark looking at the lid now after I got it home.

Nice!

I want a pair of those seats in my crew!

I'm not sure on the SEM number, but you can buy a color chart for $1.
Maybe the place you got the SEM has one?

15163 does look a bit dark
Maybe 15183 is closer?

Thanks for the picture, I think my can is a little darker than the trim, will investigate that further. Those seats do sit a little higher that the stock one, my old one was really soft though, but if you are tall they might be a little too high. I am 5'3" so I like the way they sit. I didnt take any pics of the install because after I tore the old seat out, my wife called me and reminded me of my kid's basketball game and I needed a seat to drive the pickup to the game so I just hurried and put them in. I can take pics when I pull them to do carpet, hopefully in the near future. The are real easy to install but you do need suburban bucket seat brackets and the floor bracket for the pass side, which is essentially a bucket seat anyway. I put a pair of 98 buckets in my burb about 6 years ago and really liked them and I drive a company pickup with a 60/40 seat and I really like the bench and I needed the seating in the pickup. The brackets almost bolt up to the seats, I threaded one hole on each seat and had to add one tab to pick up one bolt hole, I think it took me an hour from start to finish. Anyways, back to this color thing, I am going to call the company and see if there is a specific number for the chevy grey.

Re: Interior/seat swap

ya, JPalmer81, all my dad did, who built that white crew cab that you were asking about, was cut the risers they come with down to certain measurements, then weld on some flat bar so you could mount it to the factory holes. the new style risers are wider so the flat bar corrects for that. i have never been around a 60/40 mounted in, but i know thats how he did it with the bench's hes put in. thats ho were doing my new one. funny thing is, since your doing a crew, the front and rear bench seats are the same, like exactly, except the rear dosent have the console, just an armrest. that what i have. all gm did was take the adjustment hanlde off the rear seat, and put a set screw into the adjustment setup underneath so it couldnt move haha. but in my case the big brace for the passenger side of the arm res hit my amp, so its a big mess of a fab job trying to get it all to work right again lol o well makes it interesting ha
