Front is done....now on to the rear!
 

Just finished installing an ECE 2 1/2" drop spindle disc brake kit with 1" drop springs. Now it is time for the rear. Really trying to figure out what the toggle switch was for (hole above the ignition). Traced the wires to the dash speaker and radio but they did not work. Wondering why it would be on a toggle switch? I saw at least 1 truck pic on this site with the same setup. Any thoughts? I do not think it was to switch between dash speaker and speaker outside of truck but who knows...

Looks great I'm gonna drop my 71 3/4 ton soon hopefully. How much did it cost you in parts?

Thanks! The spindles were 299.00 but they made the job easier since they adapt to the 3/4 ton upper and lower control arms. Basically from the spindle out is 1/2 ton. Everything else remains 3/4 ton. The springs were 114.00. If your are decent you may just want to cut them and reuse. Mine were pretty worn. New master cylinder, rotors, calipers, and misc. odds and ends came to about 200.00. ECE sells an entire kit that includes everything for 750.00 I believe but I did not want to pay the extra shipping costs for all of that weight espacially since I can get the rotors and all from a local parts store. So this dropped a total of three inches in the front from stock?

Hey there,

It is actually dropped 3 1/2" from stock. 2 1/2" dropped spindles plus 1" dropped springs. I like how it sits in the front now (no clearance issues) but I know it will come up a little once the back is done.

I did my SWB with ECE and a 2-1/2 drop up front with spindles and a 4-inch drop out back with springs (coils). Now that my truck is apart, I'm thinking no time like the present to drop it another inch on all 4 corners. Any more than that out back, and it becomes an issue for the driveshaft as it is situated in the crossmember. ECE makes/sells a replacement cross member if you are serious about a 6-inch drop in the rear (with the coil-springs).

I recommend ECE with no reservations. They are good folks and easy to talk to when you have questions.

I am done the back and working on the front now! I would say the PO had the center speaker on a switch for some reason you never know what people were thinking

Rear is finally done!! The brake lines finally gave up after 45 years of work so it took longer than expected. Well at least she starts, stops, and steers now!
