don't for get the 200R same length as a 350 and uses the same d/s yoke. the rear mount is just farther back. ran one in my 65 chevelle el/co with non lock up converter. good little overdrive.

Thanks Ron,

Sorry for all the questions but don't know to much about these 305's. What else would I need to make this work with a 350.? starter, driveline ?

Re: V6 a/t adaptor-ebay

It's missing the 2 support rods that go from the trans to the engine but if it sells for 200 that's a good deal as these go for 400.

what about the other way I found a gmc w/ a hydro, would a chevy motor bolt to it, or would I have to find an adapter for gmc hydro to chevy?

Are the 2 support rods easy to come by?

Instead of a word search this is a V6 auto adapter search can you spot all the correct pieces

Yeah, the 4 pieces that their selling and the 2 support bars. How about that starter? Will the one I have work? I have the hydramatic.

This would be the best place for info http://www.6066gmcguy.org/ oh and the starter is in the pic also along with a 401M.

what do those rods actually support. the eng is side mounted and the trans will be rear mounted. the eng and the trans are not going to fall apart. what function do they really do?. is their application in a light duty truck or in a medium duty?

With the weight of the engine then add a adapter with a aluminum case auto that equals stress.

Re: V6 a/t adaptor-ebay

I sure agree with you, James.
I've got pictures on here of mine in my thread "Rockdrillers "63" or something like that.
I show it both on the ground in pieces and being assembled...hanging from a hook.
It is easier to wrap yer head around when ya see it hanging in one piece, but I don't know how to find the thread.
If you consider the over-all weight of the BB V-6 and the distribution of that weight.....heavy to the rear...it's understandable why the struts are used.
The V-6 side mounts are positioned pretty far forward, so with the auto tranny mount being where it is....I'm sure it is not beyond engineering common sense to incorperate them into the design.

Re: V6 a/t adaptor-ebay

I think I found my thread.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=453161

We'll see if this works....
Whammo....
If you look at post's #85 and #87 you see how far forward the mounts on the V-6 are.
I thought I had pic's of the whole Marry-Anne, but I guess not.
Anyway....you get the picture.
The front mount position coupled with where you already know the auto tranny mount is..
and....yes Virginia....there might be some stress..
But you probably could run it that way. The Powerglide has a much stronger case in that way, so might have never used one.
It just makes me think back to the type of mechanic that I can't stand.....the guy that throws the end brace from the Delco starter to the engine block away sayin' "you dont need those" (and then b1tchin 'bout a cracked end housing )....because he doesn't want to replace it. Or the spark plug shields off a factory stock engine...or any other component that belongs there and should go back when they are finished.
I can hear him now.....Awe....ya don't need those ....They don't do nuthin...And then throwin them in the scrap barrel.
I know...it's a pain. In fact, mine were really a pain in the a$$....but they're in there.

Guys...I might be misunderstanding the question....but I beg to differ.
If you have a Vee Six with a Turbo-Hydromatic tranny....then the tranny is a GM six bolt patterned design....and the adapter starts in front of that....and goes all the way to the GMC engine block....which will bolt directly to a GMC Truck Bell Housing.
Unless the sixty two's are different (and they might be)....the automatic adapter assembly allows you to bolt the GMC Vee Six to any standard GM automatic tranny... TH350, TH400, TH700r4, and all and any of that generation ....and if it works for one it'll work for the others.
There are two different adapter assy's....not sure what the year break is(it might be '62).
One has the round design flex plate (for lack of a better term)....and one has the triangular flex plate...like mine and the one on e-bay and the one D-jams posted.
Ya will see mine on post #85 on my build thread... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=453161.
But....they both work the same and are interchangeable...one for the other.
So yes...Andyboy....yers is the same.
But....as far as the struts themselves....they are unique to the TH400.
The tranny end will be tranny specific in all cases.
