Driveshaft

Has anybody had any luck with replacing the double driveshaft in a 66 with a single piece shaft? I'm getting really tired of dealing with that center support bearing. I have a TH350 behind a 327. Is there a junkyard shaft that I can bolt in, or one that I can have cut down and rebalanced? I obviously prefer one that I don't have to mess with. Does the driveshaft loop ever create clearance problems with a new shaft?

atleast it didnt have any driveshaft loop part etc
i dont have the driveshaft from it but maybe you should look for a leafspring truck?

The short beds I have owned always had the one piece drive shaft. You didn't say if you had a short or long bed. Plus I have not seen the loop cause any clearance problems except for exhaust routing.

Good luck

It's a longbed.

I have had and have a lwb truck with built motors. I hate those carrier bearings they really suck. I have heard late model one piece driveshafts will work, but i've never seen it done. I was almost certain that the angle you would put your driveshaft at would wear out your pinion seal on your rearend.
As lame as this advice is. I carry a spare driveshaft in my truck complete set up bearing and all. I'm wondering myself if i installed a long tail 350 turbo with a custom built driveshaft would it work. Probably have to do some torching on the crossmember and reinforce frame in another spot. I'm open for suggestions.
